Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has completed two environmental test chambers at its Space Center in Sacheon, South Korea, bringing satellite design, manufacturing, assembly and environmental testing together at one site. The company held a completion ceremony on October 12, 2026; the electromagnetic and acoustic chambers were completed in August, according to The Asia Business Daily.
What the two chambers test
The facilities recreate different hazards a satellite may encounter or produce during operation and launch preparation. The reported announcement describes their purposes but does not provide chamber dimensions, test standards or performance specifications.

Electromagnetic chamber
This chamber checks interference among equipment mounted on a satellite, as well as whether that equipment can resist interference. The aim is to assess electromagnetic compatibility among satellite systems, rather than to reproduce launch conditions. The Asia Business Daily did not report the specific test standards or equipment covered.

This chamber recreates the intense noise of a rocket launch so engineers can assess a satellite’s structural safety under that exposure. The reporting does not state the sound levels or other technical parameters used in the chamber. The Asia Business Daily

What changes at KAI’s Sacheon site
KAI says it can now carry out satellite development at its Space Center in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province, from design and manufacturing through assembly and environmental testing. A KAI official quoted by The Asia Business Daily described the result as “a one-stop integrated system that enables us to carry out every stage of satellite development independently.” The report did not identify the official by name or role.
Putting the stages at one site is expected to reduce the need to transport satellites to outside test facilities and to lower development time and associated costs. Those are KAI’s anticipated benefits, not quantified savings or independently measured results reported after the chambers opened. The Asia Business Daily and CHOSUNBIZ reported the facility completion on October 12.

How this fits KAI’s satellite work
KAI already participates in Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite programs, including spacecraft-body development, according to its Korea Multi Purpose Satellite business page. That background helps explain why in-house environmental testing fits the company’s satellite activity; it does not establish that a particular named satellite has been tested in the new chambers.

What the announcement does not establish
- It does not disclose technical specifications, test standards or chamber suppliers.
- It does not quantify time or cost savings, or report a measured change in satellite production after completion.
- It does not show that a named satellite has already undergone testing in either chamber.
