That’s the P1’s standout feature, not a promise of a universally immersive experience—the effect depends on speaker placement and the room.
How the detachable speakers change movie sound
The Nebula P1 is a compact portable projector with two wireless speakers that detach from the unit. Place them to either side of the viewing area and sound can feel broader and less tied to the projector itself. TechRadar calls the satellite speakers the P1’s “big party trick,” while What Hi-Fi? describes its sound as clean and engaging, with a broad soundfield. Those are reviewers’ listening impressions, not measured or guaranteed results.

What Hi-Fi? reports that each speaker has 10W of amplification and calls the speakers the stars of the show. Separation gives you flexibility to shape the stereo image, but it also means placement matters: a cramped layout or uneven distance from the listener may reduce the effect.
Where the sound has limits
TechRadar notes limited bass depth. The speakers may help dialogue and soundtracks feel more spacious, but they are not a substitute for every dedicated audio system. If you already own stereo-capable Bluetooth speakers, TechRadar suggests they may be competitive. Consider their placement, bass performance and ease of setup alongside the P1’s all-in-one portability.

Picture quality and viewing conditions
TechRadar lists the P1 as a 1080p projector with a 650-lumen specification, but its reviewers found brightness underwhelming in testing. They recommend dim or dark viewing for the best experience. What Hi-Fi? also reports image limitations. In practice, the P1’s sound may be its stronger selling point; ambient light and projected image size will affect how satisfying a film looks.
TechRadar notes that very large images can expose the pixel structure. It also warns that digital focus and keystone corrections can crop the projection. If possible, position the projector squarely toward the screen and adjust its physical placement before relying on digital correction.

Portability and setup trade-offs
TechRadar reports an integrated gimbal stand, USB-C power, a carrying strap and detachable speakers, all aimed at flexible mobile setups. The projector is rated IP33 and the speakers IP54, according to that review. Those ratings apply to the respective components; they do not mean the power source or a complete setup is weather-protected.

There are also charging considerations. In TechRadar’s testing, the speakers could slowly drain while attached, and the charging contacts did not always recharge one speaker reliably. That is an observed review issue, not proof that every unit will behave the same way.

Is the Nebula P1 the right portable projector?
Choose it if you value detachable speakers and the option to spread stereo sound around a temporary viewing space, and can watch in a darkened room. Look more closely at alternatives if a brighter picture matters most: TechRadar points to the JMGO N1S as an option when picture performance takes priority, while What Hi-Fi? compares the P1 with the Xgimi MoGo 4 and reports different strengths by picture mode. These are reviewer comparisons, not a complete current-market survey.
Quick Recap
- Best fit: viewers who want a portable setup with speakers they can position apart from the projector.
- Think twice: viewers who need deep bass, strong performance in ambient light or an especially large, crisp image.
- Before buying: check current price, stock and streaming-service support, which can change. TechRadar reported launch prices of $799, £699 and AU$1,299 after the P1 launched in late 2025; these are historical launch figures, not verified current prices.
