If you want a smaller, lighter phone with a headphone jack and expandable storage, choose the Sony Xperia 10 VIII. If you prefer a larger screen, wireless charging and a clearly stated seven-year software-support commitment, the Google Pixel 10a is the better fit. Neither phone is an evidence-based camera, speed or battery-life winner on the specifications alone; compare current prices and network compatibility where you live before buying.

Which phone fits your priorities?
Choose the Xperia 10 VIII for a smaller, lighter build
Sony lists the Xperia at 6.1 inches and 168 g, compared with the Pixel 10a’s 6.3 inches and 183 g. That makes the Xperia the more compact and lighter choice on published dimensions and weight, though comfort in your hand also depends on grip and personal preference.
Choose the Xperia for wired audio or microSD
The Xperia includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack, front stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio and LDAC support. Its microSDXC slot supports cards up to 2 TB, useful if you want to keep more media locally without relying only on the phone’s built-in storage.
#1 Best Overall
- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro XL; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]

- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
Choose the Pixel for wireless charging and a larger screen
Google lists the Pixel 10a with a 6.3-inch display and Qi-certified wireless charging. Its display supports a 60–120 Hz refresh rate. Sony lists the Xperia’s 6.1-inch OLED panel at a fixed 120 Hz and says it is approximately 50% brighter than the previous Xperia 10 model; that is Sony’s generation-to-generation claim, not a measured comparison with the Pixel.
Choose the Pixel for a documented update commitment
Google says the Pixel 10a will receive seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drops updates. The reviewed Sony launch and specification material does not state a comparable support duration, so there is not enough evidence here to call their support periods equal or to quantify a difference.

Camera and performance: specifications do not establish a winner
Sony lists a 50 MP effective main camera that records at 12 MP, a 13 MP effective ultrawide that records at 12 MP, and an 8 MP front camera. The main rear camera has a 1/1.56-inch sensor, an f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization for photos, with hybrid optical and electronic stabilization for video.

Google specifies a Tensor G4 processor and 8 GB of RAM for the Pixel 10a. The Sony material cited here does not provide a directly comparable performance test. No matched independent camera or speed testing establishes a winner between the phones.
Battery life and charging
Sony claims up to two days of battery life for the Xperia 10 VIII and says its battery design is intended to maintain performance after four years. Google lists a typical 5,100 mAh battery for the Pixel 10a and claims more than 30 hours of battery life, or up to 120 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. These are different manufacturer claims, not results from a matched test, and the 120-hour figure depends on using the extreme battery-saving mode.
Google says the Pixel 10a can charge to 50% in about 30 minutes when used with a 45 W USB-C PPS charger or higher, sold separately. Google also lists Qi-certified wireless charging. Sony’s listed specifications do not establish a matching charging-time figure.
