The right choice depends on the models, connection to your TV, and features you value. In RTINGS’ 2026 comparison of the Samsung HW-B750F and Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 5, Samsung has the edge in channel layout and sound adjustment, while Sony supports more audio formats over ARC. Those results apply to these two models—not every soundbar from either brand.
How do the Samsung HW-B750F and Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 5 compare?
RTINGS’ comparison describes the Samsung HW-B750F as a 5.1-channel soundbar and the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 5 as a 3.1-channel model. That difference matters, but channel count alone does not determine how a system will sound in your room. Check the exact package contents too: bundles can differ in whether they include a subwoofer or rear speakers.

These format specifications describe the connection paths in the comparison; they are not a guarantee that every source will deliver every format. The TV, its ports and pass-through settings, the soundbar, and the content all have to support the format and route it correctly. Check the manuals for your exact TV and soundbar before buying.

Which one should you choose?
Choose Samsung HW-B750F if spatial presentation and tuning matter most
In this specific matchup, the HW-B750F’s 5.1 layout, side-firing drivers and broader sound-adjustment options make it the stronger fit if you want to tailor the sound or preserve 5.1-channel content as described by RTINGS. Its format support over eARC is narrower than the Sony’s stated ARC support in this comparison, so check that against your TV and the audio you watch.

Consider Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 5 if format compatibility over ARC is a priority
The Bar 5 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X as well as Dolby Digital and DTS over ARC in RTINGS’ comparison. That may suit a setup where ARC is the connection you will use and those formats matter to you. It is a 3.1 model, and RTINGS reports fewer sound adjustments and stereo downmixing of 5.1 audio compared with the Samsung.
Decide using your whole setup, not the brand name
- Confirm the TV’s available ports and which audio formats it can pass through.
- Check the included components in the exact model or bundle listing, especially the subwoofer and rear speakers.
- Consider room shape and speaker placement; they affect how well side-firing or surround effects work.
- Choose based on the formats you actually watch and the controls you will use, rather than assuming more channels or a familiar brand guarantees a better result.
Does the comparison apply to Sony and Samsung’s other soundbars?
No. The HW-B750F versus BRAVIA Theater Bar 5 comparison is a model-specific midrange matchup, not a test of either company’s entire range or a matched flagship comparison. Samsung’s 2025 Q-series included several different configurations: the company described the HW-Q990F as 11.1.4 and the HW-Q900F as 7.1.2. Samsung’s official US announcement also lists the HW-Q800F, HW-QS700F and HW-Q600F. Specs and features vary by model, and manufacturer feature claims are not independent proof of superior sound.

For example, Samsung describes Q-Symphony as synchronizing a compatible soundbar with compatible Samsung TVs and other devices. Verify support for the exact TV and soundbar rather than assuming the feature works with every combination. Samsung US lists the HW-Q900F as a 2025 model with Q-Symphony and wireless Dolby Atmos; availability and prices can change by market and over time.

Other current buying-guide coverage considers different pairings: Tom’s Guide’s 2026 guide recommends the Sony Theater Bar 7 as a midrange Wi-Fi model with a subwoofer and clear dialogue, and describes Samsung’s QS750F as a value package with rear speakers and a subwoofer. TechRadar’s guide describes the Samsung HW-Q800F as a 2025 5.1.2 bar-and-sub combination with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Q-Symphony, and praises its clarity and effects positioning. These are assessments of those models, not evidence that one brand is better overall.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is the fairest verdict?
For the two models RTINGS compared, Samsung is the more compelling choice if you prioritize its 5.1 configuration, spatial presentation and sound controls. Sony is worth considering if its stated format support over ARC better suits your setup and a 3.1 configuration is acceptable. For a more immersive system or a higher tier, compare complete current bundles model by model; the evidence here does not establish a universal Sony-versus-Samsung winner.
