That is about 31% off, and Android Authority describes it as the lowest price seen on the earbuds this year. Where to find the $70 discount
Amazon lists the earbuds at $158 against a $228 reference price, while Best Buy shows the black model at $158 as a “Techtober Deal,” also $70 off. Rolling Stone’s October 2026 Amazon Big Deal Days roundup lists $158, down from $229.99, or 31% off. The $228 and $229.99 reference prices differ by retailer and listing; the original launch price was $229.99. Check the live Amazon listing and Best Buy listing for current price and availability. Some Walmart listings are higher; one bundle that includes a care plan is listed at $198. Other colors may not share the black model’s deal price.

What the LinkBuds Clip are—and what they are not
The WF-LC900 are clip-on open-ear earbuds. They sit around the outer ear rather than sealing the ear canal, so they are designed to let you remain aware of nearby sounds. That fit is a different trade-off from sealed earbuds: you do not get the same isolation, and open-ear designs generally deliver less bass. Each bud weighs 6.2 g and the charging case weighs 41.7 g, according to SoundGuys.
Sony launched the LinkBuds Clip on January 21, 2026, in black, greige, green and lavender, at a $229.99 launch price. They are IPX4-rated, meaning they are rated for splashes and sweat, not immersion or swimming.

The 7-hour-10-minute figure is SoundGuys’ test result, not a guaranteed runtime. For charging, you will need a USB-C cable; the case cannot be placed on a wireless charging pad.
Sound and controls: the main trade-offs
Reviewers commonly praise the lightweight, open fit for comfort and awareness. Rolling Stone called them among the category’s most comfortable and noted surprisingly robust sound, while Pocket-Lint rated them 4.5 out of 5 and praised comfort, battery life and smart features. Tom’s Guide was less favorable, citing buggy behavior and discomfort. Fit and comfort are personal, so those differing experiences matter if you are considering a purchase without trying them first.

- Bass and isolation: The open-ear design leaves the ear canal unsealed, which limits bass impact and blocks less ambient sound than sealed earbuds.
- Controls: Pocket-Lint found the tragus controls finicky. If reliable touch or button control is a priority, this is worth weighing against the comfort advantages.
- App features: Sony’s Sound Connect app includes a 10-band EQ, Find Your Own Equalizer, DSEE upscaling and 360 Reality Audio, according to the deal summary. Rolling Stone describes the app as feature-rich but cluttered.
- No wireless charging: The case charges by USB-C only.
Are the Sony LinkBuds Clip worth $158?
At $158, the discount makes the LinkBuds Clip more compelling than at their $229.99 launch price, particularly if an open fit, awareness of your surroundings and long rated battery life matter more to you than deep bass or noise isolation. The deal is less attractive if you want a sealed listening experience, wireless charging, or controls that reviewers have consistently found straightforward. Their launch price was close to the $199 Shokz OpenDots One and $169 Anker AeroClip, while the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds were listed at $299 in a 2026 review price comparison; those figures are comparison prices, not current sale quotes. Check the current retailer price and return terms before deciding.
