Sonos App Update Keeps Your Queue When You Switch to Radio or TV

Sonos’s October 6 update keeps your queue available when you switch to radio or TV. Here are the other app changes and how phased availability works.

Sonos app version 27.1 keeps your music queue available when you switch to radio or TV, so you can return to where you left off instead of rebuilding it. Sonos announced the change on October 6, 2026, alongside several other app updates.

What changed with the Sonos queue?

Previously, switching to radio or TV could cost you the queue you had been listening to. With the announced update, the queue stays intact while you change playback, and you can resume it afterward. The feature is about preserving that listening session—not merging radio or TV content into your queue.

Sonos describes the behavior in its October 6, 2026 announcement.

What else is included in version 27.1?

The announcement also lists these app changes:

  • Search autocomplete.
  • Improved visibility for system updates in settings.
  • A virtual volume knob controlled with a two-finger tap-and-rotate gesture.
  • The ability to remove individual items from Recently Played.
  • Swipe-right actions in the queue.

Sonos identifies the gesture additions—the two-finger volume control and swipe-right queue actions—as new on Android. The announcement does not provide device-by-device compatibility details for the queue-preservation feature.

Sonos Move 2 - Black - Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker
  • The new acoustic architecture replaces Move's single tweeter with two, unlocking a higher-fidelity stereo soundstage with crisp vocals and detailed instruments. With deep, dynamic bass powered by the precision-tuned woofer, you'll feel the emotional charge of a live performance.
  • With automatic Trueplay tuning, Move 2 continually optimizes the sound for its surroundings. So, no matter where you are or what you play, you get the best listening experience.
  • Listen twice as long as with the previous generation. All the acoustic updates work in concert for increased efficiency, giving you up to 24 hours of playback on a single charge.
  • Shock absorbent materials protect against accidental drops, and the IP56 rating ensures spills, splashes, rain, dirt, and dust don't dampen your listening experience.
  • Use the built-in handle to bring your music from one place to the next. When the battery needs a boost, set Move 2 on the included Wireless Charging Base, upgraded with a detachable power cable and more compact adapter. Charge on the go with any USB-PD power supply.

How to get the update

Sonos lists app version 90.00.47 for iOS and 90.00.43 for Android for the October update. Availability is phased, so the update may not appear for everyone immediately.

  1. Check your device’s app store for an available Sonos app update.
  2. If no update appears, wait and check again later; a phased rollout can take time to reach your app.
  3. Once the updated app is available, install it and try switching from queued music to radio or TV playback.

Sonos Support explains that app features can roll out over several days and sometimes weeks in its Sonos app release notes. That page’s retrieved listing showed an earlier June 23, 2026 entry, not the October change, so the October 6 community post is the relevant source for this announcement.

Is “fans are loving it” established?

Sonos announced the feature, but its post does not provide a user survey, a representative sentiment measure, or a count of positive reactions. The update addresses a specific inconvenience, but the available announcement alone cannot establish how fans broadly feel about it.
