Some Samsung phones have become less affordable, but the increases reported so far are specific to models and markets—not a single across-the-board rise. In the United States, the Galaxy A37 5G and A57 5G launched at prices reported to be $50 above their predecessors. Reports also describe increases for selected entry-level phones in India and Malaysia.
Did Samsung raise the price of its cheapest phones?
In some cases, yes. The clearest U.S. comparison is between Samsung’s 2026 Galaxy A37 5G and A57 5G and their predecessors: Android Central reported U.S. starting prices of $450 and $550, respectively, each $50 higher than the previous generation. That is a launch-price comparison for two models, not evidence that every Samsung budget phone—or every Galaxy A-series phone—went up. Android Central’s launch-price report
Separate reports point to price adjustments for selected entry-level Galaxy A, F, and M models in India, and for the Galaxy A07 and A17 in Malaysia. Those reports concern different phones and local markets; they should not be read as U.S. price changes or as a uniform increase across Samsung’s lineup. GSMArena’s India report and SoyaCincau’s Malaysia report describe the regional changes.
What do Samsung’s affordable phones cost in the U.S.?
Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy A-series page lists starting prices ranging from $249.99 to $549.99 before eligible trade-in, as of October 2, 2026. That range covers multiple models; it is not the price of one phone or a promise that every buyer will pay the listed amount. Trade-in eligibility, retailer discounts, and carrier terms can affect the final cost. Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy A-series page

The launch figures and the current series-page range answer different questions: one compares two new models with their predecessors at launch, while the other shows a listed range across Samsung’s U.S. A-series. For a purchase, compare the same model, storage configuration, market, and price basis, then check the current listing rather than treating a launch price as a current deal.
Are prices rising in India and Malaysia too?
Reporting from India describes increases affecting selected entry-level Galaxy A, F, and M phones. GSMArena’s report, dated August 8, 2026, links the changes to higher memory-related costs, but the available figures here do not establish exact model-by-model price differences. Check the specific phone and local listing before relying on a precise amount. GSMArena’s report on India

In Malaysia, SoyaCincau reported price adjustments for the Galaxy A07 and A17 on July 27, 2026, also associating them with component costs. The report is about those models in Malaysia; it does not establish a matching increase elsewhere. SoyaCincau’s Malaysia report
Why are some Samsung phones getting more expensive?
The India and Malaysia coverage cites rising memory, RAM, or storage costs as an explanation for the reported adjustments. That explanation should be treated as attributed reporting, not a quantified breakdown: the cited material does not establish how much component costs contributed to each price change. Samsung’s stated aim for the new A series is to bring its latest innovations to more users, but that positioning is not evidence that the phones are affordable. Samsung’s statement from TM Roh

Which Samsung phone is still affordable?
There is no single answer without a country, budget, and price basis. Samsung’s U.S. A-series page provides a starting point for comparing listed prices, with its range beginning at $249.99 before eligible trade-in as of October 2, 2026. The A37 and A57 are higher-priced mid-range examples, not the cheapest Galaxy options. A buyer should compare current prices for the specific model and account for trade-in, carrier-plan, and promotion conditions rather than assuming the launch price is the amount they will pay.
Samsung’s CEO, President, and Device eXperience Division head TM Roh described the new A series as part of the company’s commitment to “AI democratization.” That is Samsung’s product positioning; it does not demonstrate that prices have stayed low or that the phones fit every budget.
