For people considering a move, the practical question is how close a particular home is to restaurants and bars, event venues and busy streets—and how much evening activity they are comfortable with. The letter does not rank locations or quantify those factors.
Other high-rise areas named in the letter
Williams points to Main Street, Golden Gate and areas south of the roundabout as other places in Sarasota with high-rise living. They are examples offered by the writer, not evidence that those areas are quieter or that they are interchangeable with downtown.

What the letter says about city noise enforcement
The letter responds to news that the City of Sarasota had formed a team to address noise enforcement. It says the city pushed forward on Sept. 21 with work on a new sound ordinance, including enforcement of state statutes concerning vehicle noise such as loud mufflers and music.
The letter does not give a year for Sept. 21, quote the proposed ordinance or establish whether it was ultimately adopted or what rules are in force now. It should not be used as a guide to current legal requirements.
