The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is the stronger chip on the benchmark figures that have been published for it against the Dimensity 9000+. In one 91Mobiles comparison, it leads by roughly 57% in AnTuTu and by about 62% and 35% in Geekbench single-core and multi-core scores. Those are one publisher’s reported results, not a universal ranking. The two chips also use different CPU layouts, GPUs, and modems, so the specification sheets matter as much as the scores.
Specifications side by side
Both processors are built on 4 nm-class manufacturing, but they were designed in different generations and by different companies. Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 on March 18, 2024, and positioned it for Android flagship-tier phones from partners including Honor, iQOO, realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi. The Dimensity 9000+ is MediaTek’s older high-end platform. Its published specifications are below.

The Dimensity 9000+ has the higher single-core clock on paper, with its Cortex-X2 reaching 3.2 GHz against the Snapdragon’s prime core at 3.0 GHz. The Snapdragon’s larger cluster of mid-tier performance cores runs at up to 2.8 GHz, while the Dimensity’s three Cortex-A710 cores top out at 2.85 GHz. The two designs also spread work differently across cores. Clock speed alone therefore cannot predict which chip finishes a given task faster.

What the published benchmark numbers show
The only direct head-to-head scores found in this review come from a 91Mobiles comparison. The figures are below, with the percentage gap calculated from the reported values.
| Test (as reported by 91Mobiles) | Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 | Dimensity 9000+ | Snapdragon lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu total | 1,815,619 | 1,158,588 | about 57% |
| Geekbench single-core | 2,003 | 1,234 | about 62% |
| Geekbench multi-core | 5,094 | 3,771 | about 35% |
The comparison page does not state when the tests were run, which software builds were used, or whether both chips were tested in identical phones with the same memory, cooling, and power settings. A gap of this size is most likely to reflect the chips themselves, but the numbers should be presented as the publisher’s findings rather than as an exact measure of either processor.
What the scores do not tell you
- Everyday speed. A large lead in synthetic benchmarks does not translate into the same percentage gain in apps, browsing, or photo editing.
- Gaming behavior. Frame rates depend on the game, the graphics settings, and how long the phone can hold its clocks. No matched game testing was found for either chip.
- Battery life. Efficiency varies with the phone’s battery size and power tuning. Node labels alone do not show which chip uses less power in a given handset.
- Sustained performance. Thermal design can change results after several minutes of heavy load. Short benchmark runs do not reveal it.
Which chip makes more sense for buying decisions
Choosing between two phones based on these chips is more useful than choosing between the chips alone. Compare the complete handsets on the following points:

- Price and regional availability, since the same chip may ship in different configurations by market.
- Software support length, which matters more than a one-time performance gap for a phone you plan to keep for several years.
- Battery capacity and independent endurance results.
- Cooling design and reviews of sustained gaming.
- Camera hardware actually fitted, not the platform maximum.
- Display refresh rate and resolution as shipped.
- Network band support for your carrier.
On the evidence available, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is the faster chip on published synthetic tests and is the newer platform. The Dimensity 9000+ is the older design, and that alone is not a reason to avoid a phone built on it. For battery life and sustained performance in comparable phones, the evidence is not sufficient to name a winner.
Example phones built on each chip
The 91Mobiles comparison names iQOO Neo 10R and OnePlus Nord 5 as examples using the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, and Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 as an example using the Dimensity 9000+. These are starting points for research. Confirm the exact model, regional version, and whether it is still sold, because the comparison does not establish current availability.
Source notes
The specifications come from Qualcomm and MediaTek product pages and from Qualcomm’s March 18, 2024 launch announcement. The benchmark figures come from 91Mobiles. The vendor specifications describe what each platform can support, not how a particular phone performs. The comparison numbers should be treated as reported results from a single publisher, with no test date or controlled method disclosed.
