For a real phone purchase, cooling, software, network compatibility and handset design matter alongside the chipset.

Manufacturer specifications describe platform capabilities, not necessarily what a given phone enables. The display, camera modes, radio bands and gaming features available to buyers depend on each handset’s implementation. How the CPUs differ
Both are eight-core platforms, but their CPU configurations are not identical. The Snapdragon 865 combines four A77-based cores with four A55-based efficiency cores. The Dimensity 1100 uses four newer-generation Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.6 GHz alongside four Cortex-A55 cores. Qualcomm’s Kryo 585 branding and ARM’s core names describe the designs at different levels, so clock speed alone is not a sufficient way to predict which phone will feel faster.
In the cited Geekbench 6 aggregates, the Snapdragon 865 is ahead in single-core performance, while the Dimensity 1100 is ahead in multi-core performance. Those results are snapshots from different pools of phones, not a controlled test of otherwise identical devices.

Older figures from other comparison pages should not be combined with this table as if they formed one head-to-head test. For example, 91mobiles lists a Snapdragon 865 AnTuTu score of 592,540 and Geekbench figures of 918 and 3,379, but does not provide corresponding Dimensity 1100 figures in those fields. The page does not establish a comparable benchmark set for both chips: 91mobiles comparison.

Games and graphics
The Adreno 650 and nine-core Mali-G77 are different GPU designs; the available benchmark snapshots do not establish a universal gaming winner. Actual frame rates and stability depend on the specific game, graphics settings, drivers, phone cooling and whether the handset can sustain performance over a long session. MediaTek lists HyperEngine 3.0 for the Dimensity 1100, while Qualcomm advertises Elite Gaming features and updatable GPU drivers for the Snapdragon 865. Check the exact phone and supported game settings rather than assuming every platform feature is enabled.

Battery and heat
The 6 nm label on the Dimensity 1100 and 7 nm label on the Snapdragon 865 do not by themselves determine battery life. Battery capacity, display, modem behavior, firmware and thermal design all influence power use. A thin phone with limited cooling may reduce sustained performance even when its chipset has strong peak results.
Camera and display
Qualcomm advertises 8K capture and a Spectra 480 ISP for the Snapdragon 865; MediaTek lists support for cameras up to 108 MP and up to 144 Hz displays for the Dimensity 1100. These are platform capabilities rather than a promise of identical features across phones. Sensor choice, camera processing, lens quality and manufacturer software shape real photos and video; panel type and device configuration determine the actual screen experience.

Which chipset should you choose?
Choose between actual phones, not chipset names alone. The benchmark results lean different ways by workload, and the supplied comparisons do not test both processors inside otherwise identical handsets.

- For gaming: compare sustained gameplay and temperatures for the exact phone model, as well as driver support and the games you play.
- For travel or cellular use: verify the handset’s supported 4G/5G bands and radio configuration for your carrier and region. Qualcomm’s stated X55 capabilities do not establish the bands enabled in every Snapdragon 865 phone.
- For camera, battery life or display quality: compare the phone’s implemented camera system, battery and screen specifications; the chipset feature list is not a substitute.
- For a used or older phone: assess the device’s condition, remaining software support, price and battery health as well as its chipset.

Bottom line on performance
The Snapdragon 865 and Dimensity 1100 are close in the cited benchmark aggregates, with different leaders across individual tests. Use those numbers as context, then make the decision on the complete phone: its thermals, network compatibility, features, software support, condition and price.
