In NanoReview’s live comparison, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scores higher in AnTuTu 11, while Tensor G5 leads in Geekbench 6 single-core and multi-core results. Those figures come from unequal numbers of tests and are not a controlled, same-phone comparison, so the practical result depends on the workload and the handset.

What the benchmark results say—and do not say
AnTuTu 11 favors Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
NanoReview lists Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at 1,757,044 and Tensor G5 at 1,549,798 in AnTuTu 11. The listed sample counts are 238 and 16, respectively. This is a lead in that source’s aggregate, not proof that every Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone will outperform every Pixel 10 in every task.
Geekbench 6 favors Tensor G5 in this aggregate
In NanoReview’s Geekbench 6 results, Tensor G5 scores 2,305 single-core and 6,054 multi-core; Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scores 2,004 and 5,311. NanoReview lists 8 Tensor G5 tests and 132 Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 tests for these aggregates. The unequal samples and lack of a matched-device test limit how broadly the difference can be applied.

Benchmarks measure different workloads
AnTuTu and Geekbench use different test suites and scoring methods. Their results point in different directions here, so neither score alone establishes a general performance winner. These are source-reported aggregates, not tests run on identical phones under identical conditions.
Phone design changes the result
A benchmark run measures a phone built around the chip, not the processor in isolation. Cooling, memory, firmware and the manufacturer’s configuration can all affect performance. For example, Android Central reported Geekbench 6 scores of 2,179 single-core and 4,777 multi-core for Pixel 10, compared with 2,333 and 6,375 for Pixel 10 Pro/XL. It identified the base Pixel 10’s lack of the vapor chamber used in the Pro models as a possible factor in performance and stability.

- Standout design. Make a statement with its stunning look, modern color, and soft, vegan leather finish.
Those are handset results, not a direct Pixel-versus-Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 comparison. Android Central also reported below-20-FPS results in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme for the Pixel 10 devices it tested. That observation applies to those tested phones and that gaming benchmark; it should not be treated as a universal Tensor G5 frame rate. See Android Central’s Pixel 10 benchmark report.

Which chip is better for gaming, efficiency and sustained performance?
Gaming and GPU performance
The cited material does not provide a controlled GPU comparison between Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Tensor G5 in matched phones. Android Central’s Pixel 10 gaming result is a device-level datapoint, not enough to rank every Tensor G5 phone against Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 devices. For a gaming decision, look for results from the exact phones you are considering, using the same game, graphics settings and test duration.
Sustained performance and thermals
Short benchmark scores do not show how a phone behaves during a long gaming session or other sustained workload. Cooling configuration is one handset variable; the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro/XL provide a concrete example of different cooling hardware within one chip family. No matched sustained test of the two processors is established by the cited comparison.

- 6.8" Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to ~1750 nits brightness, HDR10+ support, and ultra-smooth responsiveness for gaming and scrolling.
Power efficiency
A 3 nm label for Tensor G5 and a 4 nm label for Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 do not by themselves tell you which phone lasts longer per charge. The cited material does not establish a controlled, matched-device power-efficiency comparison for a defined workload.

Google calls Tensor G5 “the fastest, most powerful chip from Pixel.” It also says the chip is built on TSMC’s 3 nm process and brings “double-digit performance increases” for everyday use cases including browsing, app launches and taking photos. These are Google’s product claims, not independent measurements comparing Tensor G5 directly with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

- Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.
Google further says Tensor G5 is the first chip to run the latest Gemini Nano model, enabling what it describes as the most advanced on-device AI on a phone. Treat that as Google’s stated positioning rather than a comparative benchmark; AI capability and availability depend on the software and product details as well as the chip.
How to use this comparison when choosing a phone
- For general benchmark ranking: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 leads NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 aggregate, while Tensor G5 leads its Geekbench 6 aggregates. The sample counts are unequal.
- For a specific task: prioritize tests of that workload—such as gaming, long-duration performance or everyday responsiveness—on the exact phone models under consideration.
- For a Pixel 10 purchase: Google identifies Pixel 10 devices as using Tensor G5, but the phone’s configuration and cooling still matter to performance.
- For battery life: do not infer efficiency from process-node numbers. Look for comparable battery tests on the actual handsets.
Without identified Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Tensor G5 phones tested side by side under consistent conditions, the available figures support a workload-specific comparison, not a single overall winner.
