Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →On the available benchmark aggregates, the Dimensity 8500 leads the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 in AnTuTu 11 and Geekbench 6 single-core. That is a directional comparison, not proof that every Dimensity 8500 Ultra phone will outperform every Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 phone: the published scores come from different devices, and the official MediaTek materials reviewed call the chip Dimensity 8500, not Dimensity 8500 Ultra.
First, clarify the Dimensity 8500 Ultra name
Qualcomm’s official platform page identifies the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. MediaTek’s official product information and January 15, 2026 announcement identify the competing platform as Dimensity 8500. The “8500 Ultra” label appears in a secondary comparison database, which associates it with the Poco X8 Pro; that association is not official confirmation of the chip name or of the chipset in every regional version of that phone. Check the exact local SKU before applying this comparison to a handset.

How do the specifications compare?
| Specification | Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 | Dimensity 8500 | What it means for a phone buyer |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPU | Qualcomm lists an 8-core, 64-bit Kryo CPU: one prime core up to 2.7 GHz, three performance cores up to 2.4 GHz, and four efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz. | MediaTek lists eight Cortex-A725 cores: one up to 3.4 GHz, three up to 3.2 GHz, and four up to 2.2 GHz. | Clock speed and core labels alone do not establish everyday responsiveness or sustained speed; those also depend on the phone’s implementation and workload. |
| GPU and gaming features | Adreno GPU; Qualcomm lists Vulkan 1.3 and selected Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. | Arm Mali-G720 MC8 GPU. | These specifications do not predict performance in every game. Compare sustained, game-specific results and handset temperatures. |
| Memory and storage support | LPDDR5 up to 3200 MHz or LPDDR4X up to 2133 MHz; UFS 3.1. | LPDDR5X, four-channel, up to 9600 Mbps; UFS 4 with MCQ. | These are platform support options, not guarantees about the memory and storage fitted to a particular phone. Check the handset’s configuration. |
| Wireless | 5G modem-RF, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4. | 5G-Advanced, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4. | Supported bands and connectivity features depend on the phone and its regional configuration; verify them for the model you plan to use. |
| Camera, video, and display support | Up to 200 MP photo capture, 4K HDR capture at 30 fps, and WFHD+ display up to 144 Hz. | Up to 320 MP sensor support, 4K capture at 60 fps, and WQHD+ display up to 144 Hz. | Maximum platform support does not guarantee a phone has that sensor, recording mode, resolution, or refresh rate. |
Specifications are from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 platform materials and MediaTek Dimensity 8500 product information. Qualcomm reports 7% improved CPU performance and 7% upgraded GPU rendering performance for the 7s Gen 4 versus its previous generation. MediaTek’s January 15, 2026 announcement reports a 25% increase in peak GPU performance and 20% lower GPU power consumption versus its previous generation. These are manufacturer-stated generational comparisons, not direct results against each other.

What do the benchmark scores show?
NanoReview’s comparison page, accessed October 7, 2026, displays the following aggregate results. It compares Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with Dimensity 8500, and its samples may come from different phones and test conditions.
| Benchmark | Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 | Dimensity 8500 |
|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu 11 aggregate | 1,041,898 (35 samples) | 2,120,347 (81 samples) |
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 1,223 | 1,555 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 3,168 | not stated in the cited comparison |
These aggregates favor the Dimensity 8500 on the listed AnTuTu 11 total and Geekbench 6 single-core score. NanoReview’s page is dynamically updated; its results are not a matched-phone laboratory comparison. Different cooling, firmware, memory configurations, phone designs, and test conditions can affect scores. The benchmark page also contains AnTuTu 12 user submissions from September and October 2026; those use a different version and should not be compared numerically with its AnTuTu 11 aggregates.

Which chip should you choose?
The benchmark evidence gives the Dimensity 8500 the stronger showing in the listed aggregate AnTuTu 11 and Geekbench 6 single-core results. It does not settle which phone is better for gaming, battery life, camera quality, or long-term use. Choose between actual handsets, not chipset names alone, and check:

- Sustained performance: Look for testing of the specific phone under extended gaming or heavy workloads, including temperatures and any slowdown over time.
- Battery behavior: Compare endurance and charging on the exact models. A chip specification does not reveal the complete power behavior of a handset.
- Memory and storage: Confirm the capacity and type in the retail configuration rather than assuming the platform’s maximum support is used.
- Camera and display: Check the installed camera hardware, available video modes, screen resolution, and refresh rate.
- Connectivity and regional SKU: Verify supported carrier bands, networking features, and the chipset in the precise regional model.
- Software support and price: Compare the manufacturer’s update policy and the actual price where you live; these can matter more to ownership than a benchmark gap.
