1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesOn the benchmark figures published by 91Mobiles, the Dimensity 8500 Extreme scores clearly higher than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. It reaches about 2.22 million in AnTuTu against about 1.46 million, and 7,054 against 4,314 in Geekbench multi-core. Treat those numbers as directional. The page does not show that both chips were tested in matched phones under controlled conditions. Heat, battery life and sustained gaming depend on the specific handset.
Specifications side by side
Some details below come from the chipmakers’ own pages and some from 91Mobiles’ exact-name comparison. MediaTek’s official page covers the Dimensity 8500 by that name, so the exact Extreme-variant figures are attributed to 91Mobiles.

| CPU layout | 91Mobiles: one Cortex-A720 at 2.8 GHz, four at 2.4 GHz, three Cortex-A520 at 1.84 GHz. Qualcomm confirms a peak of 2.8 GHz. | 91Mobiles: one Cortex-A725 up to 3.4 GHz, three up to 3.2 GHz, four up to 2.2 GHz. MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 page confirms the same frequency tiers and describes an all-big-core Cortex-A725 design. |
| GPU | Adreno 722 (91Mobiles) | Mali-G720 MP8 (91Mobiles); MediaTek’s page writes Mali-G720 MC8 |
| Process | 4 nm (91Mobiles) | 4 nm (91Mobiles) |
| Memory and storage | LPDDR5X, UFS 4.0 (91Mobiles) | MediaTek: LPDDR5X 4-channel up to 9600 Mbps, UFS 4 with MCQ. 91Mobiles lists UFS 4.1 for the Extreme variant. |
| Connectivity | Qualcomm: Release 17 5G, peak download up to 4.2 Gbps, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 | MediaTek: 5G-Advanced, up to 5.17 Gbps downlink, DSDA 2.0, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 |
Three points matter when reading this table:
- The Dimensity has the faster, newer CPU cores and higher clocks, and its cores are all big cores.
- The Snapdragon has the newer wireless stack on paper, with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 against Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4.
- Both are labeled 4 nm, which says nothing about equal efficiency or heat. Whether a phone enables a given feature is the manufacturer’s choice, so check the handset’s own spec sheet.

| Multi-core | 4,314 | 7,054 | about 63% |
What the pattern suggests
The biggest gap is in graphics (AnTuTu GPU) and multi-core CPU work. That fits the Dimensity’s all-big-core layout and larger GPU, but a synthetic score is not a game frame rate. The page does not establish a matched-phone protocol. Scores shift with firmware, cooling, power limits, benchmark version and run-to-run variation, so read these numbers as one source’s snapshot rather than a guarantee for every phone.
What the manufacturers claim
- Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 on May 15, 2025. It claimed a 27% CPU increase, 30% faster GPU rendering and a 65% AI improvement. All three are measured against the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, not against any MediaTek chip.
- MediaTek lists “>24% higher peak performance” and “-42% power use” for the Dimensity 8500 against the previous-generation Dimensity platform. That is not a comparison with Qualcomm either.
No independently measured battery-life or temperature comparison for a matched pair of phones was established in the sources reviewed.

Chip scores narrow the field, and the phone decides the outcome. Compare in this order:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Sustained performance and heat. Look for reviews of the exact handset with long gaming or stress tests. A chip that wins a short benchmark can throttle later.
- Battery life and charging. Use full-device tests and check battery capacity and charging speed. Platform efficiency claims alone are not enough.
- Frame-rate stability in your games. Check settings and real frame rates, not just the AnTuTu GPU score.
- Cameras and video. Sensors, lenses, stabilization and tuning come from the phone design as well as the chip.
- Bands, software and updates. Confirm the regional band support, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth versions actually enabled, and the update policy.
- Price and exact configuration. Pricing and variants change by market and over time.
91Mobiles’ page pairs the OPPO Reno16 5G and Motorola Edge 70 with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, and Motorola Edge 70 Pro variants with the Dimensity 8500 Extreme. These are examples from that page, not a complete worldwide list or confirmation of current stock. Verify the processor in your region’s version before buying.
Naming pitfalls
The comparison is Dimensity 8500 Extreme, not Dimensity 8500 Ultra and not Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. Scores for similarly named chips are not interchangeable with these.
The Bottom Line
If raw performance is the priority, the Dimensity 8500 Extreme has the stronger reported numbers and the stronger CPU and GPU specifications. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 offers newer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on paper. Make the final call on the specific phone’s thermals, battery life, software support and price.
