On the published numbers, neither chip wins everything. Apple’s A16 Bionic posts much higher Geekbench scores, single-core and multi-core, while Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 posts the higher AnTuTu total. All figures below come from the 91Mobiles comparison page, which aggregates scores. It does not describe a controlled test on matched phones, so treat the numbers as indicators and not as a verdict.
Specifications side by side
This table uses 91Mobiles’ comparison page. Qualcomm’s product page independently confirms the 2.8 GHz peak CPU clock.

| Spec | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | Apple A16 Bionic |
|---|---|---|
| CPU layout | Octa-core, up to 2.8 GHz | Six-core: two cores up to 3.46 GHz, four up to 2.02 GHz |
| GPU | Adreno 722 | Apple A16 GPU |
| Memory type | LPDDR5X | LPDDR5 |
| Process | 4 nm | 4 nm |
| Release (per 91Mobiles) | May 2025 | September 2022 |
The process node is the same, but the chips are built differently. Apple uses fewer cores with a much higher peak clock. Qualcomm uses more cores at a lower peak clock. The A16 is about three years older. That is context, not proof of how either performs in a particular phone today.

| Test | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | Apple A16 Bionic |
|---|---|---|
| Single-core | 1,385 | 2,398 |
| Multi-core | 4,314 | 5,285 |
These are the scores 91Mobiles reports (accessed 2026). The A16’s gap is large in single-core work, which affects app launches and general responsiveness. In multi-core work the gap is narrower. Snapdragon’s extra cores close part of it. Geekbench also lists iPhone 15 with A16 Bionic in its mobile benchmark table, so you can check the Apple side there.

AnTuTu results
| AnTuTu component | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | Apple A16 Bionic |
|---|---|---|
| Total | 1,457,989 | 1,302,867 |
| CPU | 496,879 | 322,518 |
| GPU | 328,669 | 353,283 |
| Memory | 263,249 | 310,155 |
| UX | 369,192 | 316,911 |
These are also 91Mobiles’ reported scores. The Snapdragon total leads because of its CPU and UX components. The A16 leads in GPU and memory. AnTuTu’s CPU score favors the Snapdragon even though Geekbench favors the A16. That shows the two suites weight work differently. It also shows that a single composite number hides the details.
How to read the conflicting results
- CPU: separate single-core from multi-core. Geekbench puts the A16 ahead in both, while AnTuTu’s CPU component puts the Snapdragon ahead.
- Graphics: the A16’s reported GPU component is higher (353,283 against 328,669). A composite total is a poor guide to gaming. Use GPU-specific and sustained-load tests on the exact phone.
- Memory: LPDDR5X is the newer memory type, yet the A16 has the higher AnTuTu memory score. The memory type alone does not predict that score.
- Test conditions: the page does not state devices, firmware, ambient conditions, test versions or repeat counts. Small differences should not be over-read.
What Qualcomm claims, and what it doesn’t
Qualcomm announced the chip on May 15, 2025. It cites 27% better CPU performance, 30% faster GPU rendering and 65% better AI performance. Its product page says: “Our 27% improved CPU reaches peak speeds up to 2.8 GHz, aided by a 30% improved GPU for faster graphics rendering.” Those figures compare the chip with its predecessor, not with the A16. The announcement said HONOR, vivo and realme were expected to announce adoption in the following months. That was a forward-looking statement, not a guarantee of availability in any market.

Choosing a phone, not a chip
You cannot buy a chip alone. The two chips sit in very different phones: 91Mobiles lists the iPhone 15 among A16-powered models and gives examples of Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 phones. The available sources give no matched-phone comparison of battery life or sustained thermal performance. Do not assume a winner in either area from these scores. Check these for the specific model:

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Price in your region, and the regional variant, since configurations differ.
- Battery life and sustained performance in independent reviews of that handset.
- Camera quality, which depends on sensors and image processing more than on the chip.
- Software update commitments from the manufacturer.
Also note that the two chips run different operating systems (iOS and Android), so you are choosing an ecosystem as well as a processor.
