Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 vs Snapdragon 6 Gen 5: Key Differences and Benchmarks

NanoReview aggregates favor Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, but small sample counts and handset differences limit what the scores can prove. Compare the confirmed specs and Qualcomm’s claims.

In the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 vs Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 comparison, available benchmark aggregates favor the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, especially in graphics. But the scores come from small, uneven sample sets—not a controlled phone-to-phone test—and Qualcomm’s advertised performance percentages are not a direct comparison with the 6s Gen 4. The practical choice depends on the handset as much as the chip.

Which is faster: Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 or Snapdragon 6 Gen 5?

Current NanoReview aggregates put the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 ahead in AnTuTu 11 and Geekbench 6. That is a useful directional signal, not proof that every 6 Gen 5 phone will outperform every 6s Gen 4 phone: the database samples are small and unequal, and handset cooling, memory, software, and other implementation choices affect results.

Benchmark Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 What the figures show
AnTuTu 11 829,894 (10 tests listed) 1,012,134 (2 tests listed) Higher aggregate for 6 Gen 5; the sample counts are small and uneven.
Geekbench 6 single-core 1,009 1,099 Higher aggregate for 6 Gen 5; the 6s Gen 4 page lists 7 CPU samples and the comparison is based on limited results.
Geekbench 6 multi-core 2,892 3,481 Higher aggregate for 6 Gen 5; not a controlled head-to-head.

Figures are NanoReview database aggregates accessed in 2026, not results from a single lab test. Scores can change as submissions are added, and comparisons between actual phones can differ. See NanoReview’s comparison and sample counts.

What do Qualcomm’s performance claims mean?

Qualcomm’s May 7, 2026 announcement says the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 offers up to 21% better GPU performance, 20% faster app launches, and 18% less screen stutter. These are Qualcomm’s product claims; the announcement does not frame them as measurements against the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. They should not be read as a direct percentage advantage in this comparison.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 brief reports 36% improved CPU performance and 59% improved GPU performance versus the earlier Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Those figures likewise do not compare the 6s Gen 4 with the 6 Gen 5. Qualcomm cautions that results vary depending on OEM implementation and other factors. Read Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 announcement and the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 product brief.

How do their specifications compare?

Qualcomm’s public brief gives detailed platform specifications for the 6s Gen 4. Qualcomm’s reviewed 6 Gen 5 announcement emphasizes selected features rather than publishing a complete specification table. Where details below come from NanoReview, they are identified as secondary-source specifications rather than Qualcomm-confirmed information in that announcement.

Specification Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Snapdragon 6 Gen 5
Process 4 nm, per Qualcomm 4 nm, per NanoReview
CPU Four performance cores up to 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz, per Qualcomm Four Cortex-A78 cores up to 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores up to 2.0 GHz, per NanoReview; not specified in Qualcomm’s reviewed announcement
Display and gaming FHD+ support up to 144 Hz; Qualcomm promotes gaming support up to 144 FPS at FHD+ Qualcomm promotes gaming features and Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0, including its up-to-21% GPU performance claim; no display ceiling is stated in the reviewed announcement
Camera Photo capture up to 200 MP and 2K HDR video capture at 30 FPS, per Qualcomm Qualcomm highlights AI-powered camera features, including night-vision- and zoom-related features; a complete camera specification is not stated in the reviewed announcement
Connectivity 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4, per Qualcomm Qualcomm advertises 5G and Wi-Fi 7; device implementation and regional bands still matter
Memory and storage LPDDR4x or LPDDR5x, up to 12 GB, and UFS 3.1, per Qualcomm LPDDR5 up to 16 GB and UFS 3.1, per NanoReview; not specified in Qualcomm’s reviewed announcement

Platform ceilings are not promises about a finished phone. A 144 Hz or 144 FPS capability does not mean every screen or game will reach that rate. Camera output depends on the sensor, optics, image processing, and manufacturer tuning; connectivity bands and supported features can also vary by device and region. The 4 nm process labels alone do not establish which phone will be faster or more efficient.

Is Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 better for gaming?

The available evidence points toward the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 as the stronger graphics option: its NanoReview AnTuTu aggregate is higher, and Qualcomm advertises GPU and gaming-related improvements. However, the 21% GPU figure is Qualcomm’s claim, not an independently controlled comparison with the 6s Gen 4. The benchmark samples are limited, and an individual phone’s sustained gaming performance depends on its cooling, power limits, software, and screen.

The 6s Gen 4 supports FHD+ displays up to 144 Hz, and Qualcomm says the platform can support gaming up to 144 FPS at FHD+. Those are supported capabilities, not guarantees that a particular handset or game will deliver them.

What do these scores mean for everyday use?

The higher 6 Gen 5 aggregates suggest more headroom in the tested CPU and graphics workloads. Qualcomm’s app-launch and stutter figures also indicate the kinds of smoothness improvements it is targeting, but those company claims do not predict the experience of a particular phone. For routine tasks, display responsiveness, software, available memory, and background processes may matter more than a small difference in a database score.

Neither chipset score establishes battery endurance, operating temperature, camera quality, display quality, or value. Those are properties of the complete phone and should be judged from reviews of the exact model and regional version, not inferred from the processor alone.

Which phones use Snapdragon 6 Gen 5?

In its May 2026 announcement, Qualcomm said Honor and REDMI were among the manufacturers expected to release Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 devices in the second half of 2026. The announcement did not name specific models, so an OEM mention is not confirmation that a particular phone has launched or is available in a given market.

NanoReview lists Motorola Moto G57 Power and other phone examples using the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. Treat those as reported platform associations, not confirmation of current regional availability or a standardized phone test. See NanoReview’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 page.

How should you choose between phones with these chips?

If two phones are otherwise comparable, the available evidence gives the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 an edge for benchmark performance and likely gaming headroom. But a chipset name is not enough to pick between actual devices. Compare the exact models on the factors that determine daily use:

  • Performance in the phone: Look for sustained gaming and thermal results for the specific model, not only a platform-level score.
  • Battery life: Use reviews of the exact device. The available chipset figures do not establish comparative endurance.
  • Display and cameras: Check the installed panel, refresh-rate behavior, sensors, lenses, and supported recording modes.
  • Connectivity: Confirm that the phone supports the bands and Wi-Fi features you need in your region.
  • Software and price: Compare the model’s update policy, storage configuration, and current local price; these are phone-level differences, not chipset specifications.
