Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 has the stronger published specification and benchmark position, with a higher listed CPU peak, newer wireless standards, and higher scores in the available third-party aggregates. The benchmark lead is provisional: the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 results are based on fewer than three samples in the key tests. Neither chip’s specifications alone establish how a particular phone will perform.
At a glance: which chipset is stronger?
On the published information available, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is the stronger platform. Qualcomm lists its performance cores at up to 2.4 GHz and its efficiency cores at up to 1.8 GHz; its Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 page lists CPU speeds up to 2.3 GHz. NanoReview’s displayed AnTuTu 11 and Geekbench 6 aggregates also favor the 6s Gen 4, but the 4 Gen 4 side has fewer than three samples in those comparisons.

That supports a directional conclusion, not a guarantee about every phone. The processor is only one part of a handset: its cooling, battery, memory, software, and manufacturer tuning affect the experience.
Specifications compared
| Specification | Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 | Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Process node | 4 nm (Qualcomm product brief) | 4 nm (Qualcomm product page) | The node labels do not distinguish these chips, and they do not by themselves predict a phone’s battery life or heat. |
| CPU | Four performance cores up to 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz (Qualcomm product brief) | CPU speeds up to 2.3 GHz; the reviewed Qualcomm page does not detail the core configuration | The 6s Gen 4 has the higher published peak frequency. Clock speed alone does not establish a precise performance advantage. |
| GPU and display | Qualcomm Adreno GPU; FHD+ support up to 144 Hz | Qualcomm Adreno GPU; the official page highlights support for 120 FPS display refresh | The phone’s panel and individual game support determine what refresh rate users can actually see. |
| Connectivity | Release 16 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 | 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 | The 6s Gen 4 lists newer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth standards. Band support and antenna design still depend on the handset and market. |
| Camera capabilities | Up to 200 MP photo capture; hardware MFNR; 2K HDR capture at 30 fps listed | Up to 36 MP capture and hardware-based MFNR described on Qualcomm’s page | These are platform capabilities, not a prediction of image quality. Sensors, lenses, processing, and phone-maker tuning matter. |
| Memory | LPDDR4x or LPDDR5x; up to 12 GB listed | LPDDR5 listed | The manufacturer chooses the memory configuration for each phone. |

The listed results all favor the 6s Gen 4, most notably in the displayed AnTuTu and multi-core scores. But the small, uneven sample—especially fewer than three 4 Gen 4 results—means these aggregates should be read as an indication, not a dependable prediction for a specific phone. They do not establish sustained gaming speed, thermal behavior, battery endurance, or how one retail handset compares with another.

Qualcomm advertises the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 as having “36% Improved CPU” and “59% Improved GPU.” Those figures compare it with the previous-generation Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, not with Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. Qualcomm’s footnote says, “All comparisons made are in reference to previous generation, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform. Results will vary, depending on OEM implementation and other factors.” They therefore cannot be used as the 6s Gen 4’s percentage lead over the 4 Gen 4.

Qualcomm’s 4 Gen 4 page also says Quick Charge 4+ can charge a device up to 50% in 15 minutes, while warning that results vary by device design. This is a platform claim, not a guaranteed charging time for every phone using the chip.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the comparison means when choosing a phone
If two phones are otherwise comparable, the 6s Gen 4’s higher listed CPU peak, newer listed wireless standards, and directionally stronger available benchmark results make it the more promising chipset on paper. For an actual buying decision, compare the phones themselves rather than treating the chip name as the verdict.
- Performance: Look for independent reviews testing the specific models with the same benchmark versions and conditions. A chipset aggregate is not a matched-device test.
- Gaming and sustained speed: Check longer gaming or stress-test results, since a brief benchmark score does not show how performance changes with heat.
- Battery and thermals: Compare device-level results. A 4 nm label alone does not establish endurance or operating temperature.
- Display: Confirm the phone’s actual panel resolution and refresh rate; platform support does not mean every handset includes a high-refresh display.
- Camera: Assess sample photos and video from the phone. Megapixel limits and platform features do not reveal sensor quality or image processing.
- Connectivity: Verify the exact handset’s supported bands and wireless features for your market.
- Price and availability: These depend on the handset and region. The Qualcomm pages and benchmark comparison cited here do not establish current phone models or local listings for either chip.
Keep the chip names distinct
Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is not Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 or Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2. This distinction matters when reading performance claims: Qualcomm’s 36% CPU and 59% GPU improvement figures for the 6s Gen 4 are measured against Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, not either of the chips in this comparison.
