Neither chip wins outright on the evidence available. Published benchmark tables for Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and Dimensity 7400 put each chip ahead in different tests, and the size of the gap changes with the publisher and the phone that was measured. The most useful comparison treats the chip specifications as vendor claims, reads each benchmark as a snapshot from one source, and then weighs the complete phone you would actually buy.
What each chipmaker claims
Both companies publish generational claims that compare their new chip with their own previous model. Neither claim is a head-to-head test against the other company’s chip, so they tell you how much each platform improved, not which one is faster today.

Qualcomm’s February 2025 release describes the chip as bringing “powerful performance, extended battery life, and ultra-fast 5G connectivity”; this is corporate positioning. Qualcomm’s announcement carries the footnoted basis for its percentages, and its product page lists the platform features. MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 page describes its CPU, GPU and AI features and states the NPU 655 improvement against the previous generation.
Platform features are not phone features. A chip can support 200 MP capture or Game Super Resolution while a given manufacturer ships a lower sensor, a different cooling design or a different game-optimisation profile.

Benchmark results by source
Two comparison sites show the chips side by side, and they do not agree. NanoReview aggregates results across many tests per chip, while 91mobiles lists results from the phones it tested. Because the device samples differ, the figures below should be read as each source’s own picture, not as a controlled matchup.
| Source (checked in 2026) | Chip | AnTuTu total | Geekbench 6 single-core | Geekbench 6 multi-core | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NanoReview | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | 975,254 (AnTuTu 11) | 1,087 | 3,148 | Aggregate of 97 displayed tests |
| NanoReview | Dimensity 7400 | 953,150 (AnTuTu 11) | 1,061 | 3,185 | Aggregate of 91 displayed tests |
| 91mobiles | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | 764,410 (AnTuTu version not stated) | 1,100 | 3,097 | Phones tested by 91mobiles |
| 91mobiles | Dimensity 7400 | 979,430 (AnTuTu version not stated) | 1,084 | 3,015 | Phones tested by 91mobiles |
Reading the NanoReview figures
On NanoReview, Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 leads single-core Geekbench 6 by about 2.5% (1,087 against 1,061). Dimensity 7400 leads multi-core by about 1.2% (3,185 against 3,148). The AnTuTu 11 total favours Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 by about 2.3%. Gaps this small sit within the normal run-to-run and phone-to-phone variation of mid-range handsets, so they support “roughly comparable” rather than a ranking.
Reading the 91mobiles figures
91mobiles shows a different picture. Its Geekbench 6 numbers favour Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 in both single-core (1,100 against 1,084) and multi-core (3,097 against 3,015). Its AnTuTu totals, however, put Dimensity 7400 about 28% higher (979,430 against 764,410). That spread is far larger than anything NanoReview displays, and the most likely explanation is the different phones, firmware builds and benchmark versions behind each source, not a difference in the silicon. The 91mobiles page does not state its AnTuTu version, so the AnTuTu figures should not be placed next to NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 totals as if they were the same test.
The practical conclusion is that a benchmark score tells you how a specific phone performed in a specific test on a specific day. It does not give you a chip ranking.

Where the comparison actually matters
Use the five axes below to decide what counts for your purchase. Most of them can only be settled with the finished phone in hand.
1. CPU workloads
Single-core and multi-core results diverge between sources, so the honest CPU answer is “close, and dependent on the test.” Short bursts such as opening apps are governed by single-core speed. Sustained tasks such as video export or long compile jobs depend on multi-core speed and on whether the phone holds its clocks under heat.
2. Graphics and gaming
Qualcomm’s GPU claim of up to 29% is against its own previous generation and is stated as a maximum. Dimensity 7400’s GPU improvement is not quantified on the cited page. No independent, matched-handset study of sustained gaming on these two chips was found in the sources reviewed, so there is no measured frame-rate or thermal result to quote. Judge gaming by reviews of the specific phone that test extended sessions.

3. Efficiency and battery life
Qualcomm’s 12% power saving and MediaTek’s NPU 655 improvement are vendor claims measured against earlier chips. Whole-phone battery life also depends on the display, battery capacity, software and network conditions. No matched battery-life comparison between these two chips was found, so any battery figure should come from a review of the phone you are considering.

4. Device implementation
Thermals, cooling design, memory configuration, software update policy and firmware quality often matter more than a few percent of benchmark difference. Two phones with the same chip can behave very differently after twenty minutes of gaming. Check whether the phone you are considering has a vapour chamber or equivalent cooling, how much RAM and storage it ships with, and how long the manufacturer promises security and OS updates.
5. Purchase value
Compare the complete package: price in your market, display, battery, camera hardware, support period, and availability. The chip is one line in that list. Regional variants can use different chips or memory configurations, so confirm the exact model code and chipset before comparing prices.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to run a fair comparison yourself
- Confirm the chipset in the phone’s official specification sheet for your market. The same model name can ship with different chips in different regions.
- Install Geekbench 6 on each phone and note the app version shown in its settings or About screen.
- Run the test three times per phone, with the phones at similar battery levels, similar temperature and no other apps running. Record the median.
- If you also run AnTuTu, note its version and run it on both phones in the same session window.
- Run a 20-minute session of the games you actually play, and note whether frame rate drops or the phone becomes uncomfortably warm.
- Compare the results with the phone’s price, battery, display and software support, and decide which trade-offs matter to you.
Handset examples
The comparison pages use two phones as examples of each chip. Verify the regional model and current availability before buying:
- realme P3, cited as a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 example by 91mobiles.
- Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, cited as a Dimensity 7400 example by 91mobiles.
Both listings are cited in the 91mobiles comparison. Those examples show which phones use each chip; they do not show that either phone outperforms the other in use.
For a live view of the chip-level numbers, see NanoReview’s side-by-side comparison. Its figures update as its test data changes, so compare them with the date you read this article.
