Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is the stronger choice on paper for 5G and newer platform capabilities; Helio G25 is an older 4G chip with more fully specified CPU details. Qualcomm lists a 4 nm process, CPU speeds up to 2.3 GHz and LPDDR5 support for Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, while MediaTek specifies a 12 nm Helio G25 with eight Cortex-A53 cores up to 2.0 GHz. A third-party AnTuTu 10 comparison also favors Snapdragon, but it does not disclose matched phone models or test conditions, so treat its scores as directional rather than a guarantee for any handset.

Specifications at a glance

Specification Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 MediaTek Helio G25
Process 4 nm, according to Qualcomm 12 nm, according to MediaTek
CPU Qualcomm Kryo 64-bit CPU, up to 2.3 GHz; core configuration not stated on Qualcomm’s retrieved page Eight 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53 cores, up to 2.0 GHz
GPU Adreno; model not stated on Qualcomm’s retrieved page IMG PowerVR GE8320, up to 650 MHz
Memory support LPDDR5 LPDDR3 or LPDDR4x; maximum configuration listed as 4 GB or 6 GB depending on memory type
Storage Not stated on Qualcomm’s retrieved product page eMMC 5.1
Cellular 5G, including sub-6 GHz; peak download speed up to 2.5 Gbps according to Qualcomm 4G LTE, including Cat-4 and Cat-7 downlink/Cat-13 uplink
Wireless Wi-Fi 5; Bluetooth 5.1 Wi-Fi 5; Bluetooth 5.0
Display and media limits Qualcomm says the platform supports a 120 FPS display refresh rate; actual display behavior depends on the phone Maximum display resolution 1600 × 720; H.264/H.265 playback up to 1080p at 30 fps

These are platform specifications, not a promise that every phone implements every option. Phone makers choose components such as memory, displays, cooling and modem bands. Qualcomm’s listed 2.5 Gbps figure is a peak platform capability, not an expected real-world download speed.

Which chip is faster in benchmarks?

TopCPU’s direct comparison lists the following AnTuTu 10 scores:

Chip AnTuTu 10 score listed by TopCPU
Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 463,277
Helio G25 157,365

The listed Snapdragon score is substantially higher. However, the retrieved comparison does not identify the tested phones, operating-system versions, thermal conditions or protocol. It is not a documented controlled test of named handsets. Benchmark totals also vary with memory, cooling, firmware and power limits, so the figures should not be read as a guaranteed speed ratio between phones.

Where Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 has the advantage

5G connectivity

Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is specified for 5G, while Helio G25 is a 4G platform. That makes Snapdragon the clear fit if 5G connectivity is a requirement, subject to the phone supporting the bands and network used in your region.

Newer listed process and memory support

Qualcomm lists a 4 nm process and LPDDR5 support; MediaTek lists 12 nm and LPDDR3/LPDDR4x. Those published platform capabilities favor Snapdragon for newer memory support. A process label or peak clock alone does not establish whole-phone efficiency, sustained performance or battery life, and the installed memory is determined by the phone manufacturer.

More performance evidence, with limits

The available AnTuTu 10 listing favors Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, but missing device and test details make it evidence of a reported comparison—not a reliable prediction for every retail phone.

What Helio G25 specifies

MediaTek gives a more explicit CPU layout for Helio G25: eight Cortex-A53 cores running up to 2.0 GHz. It also names the PowerVR GE8320 GPU and its 650 MHz maximum frequency. Qualcomm’s retrieved Snapdragon page names a Kryo CPU up to 2.3 GHz and an Adreno GPU, but does not provide the CPU core arrangement or Adreno model. A GPU frequency comparison would not be meaningful across these different architectures.

MediaTek also lists support for camera configurations up to 21 MP for a single camera or 13 MP + 8 MP for dual cameras at 30 fps. These are platform limits, not guarantees about cameras in G25 phones. The company describes HyperEngine resource management for gaming and system-level power management, but the available material does not provide a comparable sustained-frame-rate or battery-life test against Snapdragon 4 Gen 4.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 phone if you need 5G, want the newer listed LPDDR5 support, or are comparing platforms based on the available AnTuTu 10 listing.
  • Consider a Helio G25 phone if 4G meets your needs and the specific handset is suitable on its own merits, such as price, memory, display and software support.
  • Compare actual phone models before buying. A chip-only comparison cannot establish which complete phone is faster, lasts longer on a charge or offers better value. Check the device’s implemented memory, display, cooling, firmware and cellular bands.

Availability and product-line context

Qualcomm’s May 7, 2026 announcement introduced Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, with commercial devices expected in the second half of 2026. It refers to Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 in describing an internal GPU-performance comparison for the newer platform. That confirms the product’s place in Qualcomm’s lineup, but does not establish a named retail Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 phone. Qualcomm’s 4-series catalog lists other named members, including 4 Gen 1, 4 Gen 2 and 4s Gen 2. Verify the chipset in a specific phone listing rather than assuming availability from the platform page alone.
