Does the loop improve the photography experience?
As a handheld grip
The loop is intended to give a finger a more secure-feeling place to rest while holding the phone, particularly in landscape orientation. SmallRig’s product page says it folds out “to serve as a grip for steadier handheld shooting,” but that is a vendor claim, not evidence that it measurably steadies photos. Comfort and security can depend on hand size, shooting position, and whether the loop catches when the phone goes into a pocket. The available product information does not answer those questions.

As a stand
The stand function could be useful for a fixed shot, a selfie, or hands-free viewing. SmallRig’s guide gives an advertised adjustment range of 30° to 90°. Who should consider it—and who may want a different setup?
The FlipLoop is most relevant to someone who wants an everyday case with a built-in place to grip or prop up the phone, and who values a compact setup over adding separate accessories. Whether it suits daily carry depends on real-world questions—loop comfort, pocket fit, and stand stability—that the manufacturer listing does not resolve.
For a more expandable video-production rig, SmallRig distinguishes its phone cages from its everyday cases. The ecosystem guide presents cages as the more production-focused option, with room for expansion such as handles, filters, lens adapters, microphones, and power accessories. A FlipLoop case is the simpler category; it is not a substitute for a cage when that broader mounting flexibility is the priority.
