Cobb County police detectives in the Major Crimes Unit were investigating. County Chairwoman Lisa N. Cupid said the county was working with Six Flags and appropriate partners. In her statement, she wrote, “Additional information will be released by law enforcement as it is confirmed.”

Authorities and Six Flags had not identified the coaster in the AP report. AP said local television video showed passengers being evacuated from Goliath, but that footage does not establish that Goliath was the ride involved. The cause of the death and injuries had not been confirmed either.

Six Flags spokesperson, as quoted by AP, said: “We are deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today,” and said the company was cooperating with local authorities.
