Meeting that threshold does not guarantee immediate access: your iPad’s language and Siri language must match a supported language, your region must be eligible, and the beta rollout may put you on a waitlist. iPadOS 27 compatibility and Siri AI eligibility are separate checks.
Which iPads meet Apple’s Siri AI requirement?
Apple lists the iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad models with an M1 chip or later for Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Check the exact model and chip rather than relying on the iPadOS version alone. Apple’s Apple Intelligence requirements and iPad user guide set out the hardware threshold.

If your iPad is older than those listed models, the cited requirements do not identify it as eligible for Siri AI. Accessories do not change that hardware requirement.

Does installing iPadOS 27 mean you get Siri AI?
No. Operating-system installation compatibility and Siri AI eligibility are different questions. A device may be able to run an operating system without meeting the separate hardware requirement for Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Apple’s support instructions say to check the device against its specific AI requirements.

What else is required to turn on Siri AI?
Matching language settings
Your iPad language and Siri language must be set to the same supported language. Apple’s current Siri AI support information confirms availability in English. The broader list of languages Apple supports for Apple Intelligence is not the same as confirmation that Siri AI is available in those languages.

An eligible region
Apple says Siri AI is not available on iPadOS in the European Union. It also says the feature will not currently work in mainland China when the Apple Account region is set to mainland China. A compatible iPad alone cannot override these restrictions. Check Apple’s Siri AI beta requirements for current regional conditions.
Access to the beta rollout
Apple’s support instructions describe Siri AI as a beta with enrollment that can involve a waitlist. Apple says, “This will add you to a waitlist, and wait times can vary.” After the wait, the beta downloads automatically, according to Apple’s Siri AI setup instructions.

How to check for Siri AI on a compatible iPad
- Confirm that your iPad is an iPad mini (A17 Pro) or an iPad model with M1 or later.
- Check that the iPad and Siri are set to the same supported language; Apple currently confirms English for Siri AI.
- Confirm that your location and Apple Account region are not subject to Apple’s stated restrictions.
- Update the iPad if an eligible software update is available, then open Settings and choose Siri.
- Select Try Siri AI (Beta) if it appears, then follow the enrollment steps. If enrollment adds you to a waitlist, availability is not immediate.
If the option is missing, check the model, language match, region, and beta access separately. A missing option does not by itself show which condition is blocking access.
Which iPhones does Apple list for Siri AI?
Apple’s current Siri AI requirements list iPhone 15 Pro models, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air. That is the Siri AI hardware list; do not infer that every iPhone able to install iOS 27 also qualifies. Apple’s Siri AI requirements distinguish device eligibility from software availability.

Should you replace an iPad to get Siri AI?
If your current iPad falls below Apple’s stated hardware threshold, the evidenced hardware route is an iPad mini (A17 Pro) or an iPad model with M1 or later. Moving to qualifying hardware may address device eligibility, but it will not remove language, regional, or beta-rollout restrictions. The available Apple requirements do not establish a model-by-model performance or value ranking.
