If Siri AI on a new Apple Watch is not doing what you expected, start with the requirements, not the feature itself. Siri AI is a beta, and Apple ties it to a specific combination of Watch model, watchOS version, paired iPhone, language, and region. If any one of those conditions is not met, the feature will not behave the way Apple’s marketing describes, no matter how many times you retry it.
What Apple says Siri AI is supposed to do on your Watch
Apple describes Siri AI as a beta conversational assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. Its announced capabilities include broad world knowledge, understanding of personal context across apps, awareness of what is on screen, the ability to take actions inside apps, and a dedicated Siri app that syncs conversation history across Apple devices. In its June 8, 2026 announcement, Apple stated that “Siri AI is an entirely new version of Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence” (Apple Newsroom, June 8, 2026). These are Apple’s own descriptions of capability. They are not independent test results, and Apple does not publish a success rate for them.

Apple’s Watch guide gives three kinds of example request: finding information in a saved note or calendar, asking a general question, and asking Siri to perform an action in an app. Apple’s examples include asking what was last added to a named note and asking where an upcoming class is. The guide also says you can continue a conversation in the Siri app (Apple Support, Get started with Siri AI on Apple Watch). Treat these as the uses Apple is advertising, not as a guarantee that every request will succeed on every Watch.

Apple’s current Watch guidance lists three Watch families that support Siri AI beta. The Watch must also be running watchOS 27 or later.

|---|---|
| Apple Watch Series 9 or later | Supported, with watchOS 27 or later |
| Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later | Supported, with watchOS 27 or later |
| Apple Watch SE 3 | Supported, with watchOS 27 or later |
| Older Apple Watch models | Not listed as supported in Apple’s Watch guide |
Apple’s materials do not rank the eligible Watch models by how well Siri AI performs on each one. If your Watch is on the list, the difference between models is not a documented reason for a poorer experience.
The iPhone requirement
The Watch has to be paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone. Apple’s support guidance names iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models and later, as qualifying devices (Apple Support, How to get Siri AI). The published requirement is pairing with a qualifying iPhone. Apple’s guidance does not, in the sources reviewed here, spell out whether the iPhone must be within Bluetooth range for every request, so check the current support page before assuming it can stay at home while you go for a run.

Software, language, and region checks
These settings decide whether the feature is offered at all, so check them before anything else.
- Watch software: watchOS 27 or later.
- iPhone software: an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone model as listed above, running the version of iOS that Apple’s support page specifies for Siri AI.
- Language: Apple says Siri AI is rolling out in beta in English. Siri and the device language must both be set to a supported language.
- Region: Apple says Siri AI is unavailable for iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS in the European Union, and does not work for Apple Accounts in mainland China (Apple Support, How to get Siri AI).
- Apple Account: an Apple Account in a supported region. Accounts in mainland China are not supported.
Apple says supported languages and regions may change. The live support page for your location is the authority, not an older article or a forum post.

Setup steps
Apple’s general setup guidance follows this sequence. Menu labels can differ slightly between software versions, so match the wording to what your iPhone and Watch show.
- Update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the required software versions.
- Open the Siri settings on the paired iPhone, then choose the new Siri beta.
- Follow the onscreen steps. These include choosing a voice, completing voice enrollment, and reviewing privacy settings.
- If Apple shows a waitlist, expect to wait. Apple says wait times vary, so there is no fixed date to plan around.
If the beta option does not appear after these steps, the cause is most likely one of the eligibility conditions above rather than a setting you missed. Recheck the Watch model, watchOS version, iPhone model, language, and region before repeating the setup.

Daily usage limits
Apple says that some server-side Apple Intelligence features, including Siri AI, are subject to daily usage limits. Apple says those limits can vary with the feature, the complexity of the request, system demand, policies, and other factors. Apple does not publish a fixed number of requests, so you cannot count on a set allowance. If requests start failing after heavy use in a single day, the limit is a possible explanation, but Apple’s published information does not state a specific threshold.
Where the frustration usually begins
Most of the friction comes from a mismatch between what the marketing describes and what the requirements allow. Apple’s examples show personal-context lookups and app actions. Those examples describe intended use, not measured reliability. A Watch outside the eligibility list, an iPhone outside the supported range, or a region or language outside the beta will not be offered the feature, and a feature that is not offered cannot be expected to answer questions.

Apple also says that the Siri app can continue a conversation across devices (Apple Support, Get started with Siri AI on Apple Watch). Where a conversation seems to skip between devices, check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account and are running the required software before concluding the sync has failed.
A checklist before you blame the Watch
- Is your Watch an Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Ultra 2 or later, or SE 3?
- Is the Watch running watchOS 27 or later?
- Is it paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone such as an iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or an iPhone 16 model or later?
- Are Siri and the device language set to English, the language of the current beta?
- Are you in a region where Apple offers Siri AI, outside the European Union and mainland China for Apple Accounts?
- Have you completed the setup steps, including the waitlist if one appears?
- Are you making a request that matches the uses Apple describes?
If every answer is yes and the feature still fails, report the problem through Apple Support, and include the watchOS version, iPhone model, language, and region in your report.
Apple’s June 8, 2026 announcement is at Apple Newsroom. Apple’s September 2026 Newsroom post, Siri AI, a profoundly more capable and personal assistant, is here, is the later company statement on the release.
