Silent Hill: Townfall — How to Get the Abandoned Ending

To pursue Silent Hill: Townfall’s Abandoned ending, use a combat-heavy approach as Simon and avoid optional Discoveries—but no verified score threshold guarantees it.

Spoilers: This walkthrough explains how to steer a playthrough toward the Abandoned ending. The practical route is combat-heavy: kill enemies you encounter as Simon and avoid optional Clues and Documents. That is a guide-reported strategy, not a guaranteed formula; the developers say endings reflect actions across the whole playthrough and have not published an exact score threshold.

How the Abandoned ending is determined

There is no single final dialogue choice that selects Abandoned. In a PlayStation.Blog interview published July 30, 2026, Jon McKellan, writer and director at Screen Burn Interactive, said: “The endings in Silent Hill: Townfall aren’t determined by a simple binary choice at the end. Instead, the culmination of the player’s actions throughout their playthrough dictates which ending they reach.” Konami series producer Motoi Okamoto also confirmed that all three main endings are available on a first playthrough; the secret ending becomes available after clearing the game once. PowerPyx’s Abandoned walkthrough describes it as the below-zero ending and recommends killing all possible enemies as Simon. It also reports that Clues and Documents contribute to Discoveries, which pulls against that combat-focused approach. Neither the developers nor the guide supplies a universal, verified number of kills or a precise score cutoff.

Abandoned ending walkthrough

  1. Begin a dedicated run or load an early manual save. A save just before the final boss may be too late to change the pattern of actions accumulated earlier. For broader ending attempts, PowerPyx identifies a save before the Clamp Release sequence as useful; make sure your own save preserves enough of the playthrough to alter earlier choices.
  2. Fight enemies during Simon’s sections. Take the combat-heavy route and kill enemies you encounter where practical. Do not chase a specific kill count: no required total has been established.
  3. Prioritize progression items over optional exploration. Collect what is needed to solve puzzles and continue the story, but do not make optional Clues and Documents a goal for this run. PowerPyx lists 85 such pickups in total and says they contribute to Discoveries. Earlier areas cannot be revisited as the story advances, so skip optional detours deliberately rather than expecting to return later. PowerPyx’s Clues and Documents guide.
  4. Finish the story and check the ending. If you receive another ending, reload an earlier save and change the run’s actions. What can be changed depends on how far back that save reaches and on the ending calculation.

Choosing your route

Goal or situation Practical approach What to know
Pursue Abandoned now Kill enemies as Simon; avoid optional Discoveries. This is PowerPyx’s broad strategy, not an official guaranteed formula.
Prefer a different main ending Do not follow the Abandoned route automatically; endings are shaped by actions across the run. The official interview confirms the cumulative nature of ending selection but does not publish score weights or thresholds.
First playthrough Choose the ending you want to pursue on this run. All three main endings are available from the first playthrough.
Already finished once Replay for another main ending or pursue the secret ending. The secret ending unlocks after clearing the game once.
Only have a late save Try the route, but do not assume a final-stretch reload can change the result. A late save may preserve too much of the earlier playthrough to shift the ending.

What is known—and what is not

PowerPyx’s guide recommends killing all possible enemies as Simon and describes that approach as producing a negative ending score. An unofficial guide discusses score effects from Discoveries, qualifying Simon kills, Cannula refills, and Zoe treatment mistakes, but says its findings have not been independently reproduced. Other guides and community reports differ on how total kills should be interpreted. Treat those details as uncertain: do not rely on a rule such as “kills greater than discoveries” or a fixed kill trigger.
