Silent Hill: Townfall has nine weapons in one current guide’s count: four improvised weapons or throwables, three firearms available during a first run, and two New Game Plus weapons. The Flare Gun is the main missable pickup; the Shotgun arrives automatically, while the Axe and Pistol-3000 require replaying the game.
All weapons at a glance
The nine-item count below is How To Video Game’s guide inventory, not an official Konami statistic. Its category includes distractions such as bottles and bricks alongside firearms.

Specific placements and unlock conditions come from walkthroughs rather than an official item database. The guide count and locations are useful route information, but should not be read as publisher-confirmed weapon specifications.

Plank, pipe, bottle, and brick
These improvised weapons and throwables are described as items found throughout the game, not as one-time pickups with a single required spawn. Use a plank or pipe for close-range melee; bottles and bricks can be thrown as distractions. If you do not find one in a particular room, the guides do not identify that as a missed mandatory weapon.
#1 Best Overall
- Experienced entirely in first person, explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged.
- SILENT HILL: Townfall is a full-length, self-contained psychological horror set against the cold, isolated backdrop of Scotland, 1996
Pistol: Part 2, Town Square
- Finish Zoe’s section in Part 2 and continue until control returns to Simon.
- In Town Square, find the box marked “Richard’s Gift.”
- Choose to take the Pistol. It is an optional pickup, not automatically added to inventory.
A walkthrough reports that the Pistol can kill a standard enemy in two shots, but that is a guide-reported observation, not an official damage specification.
Flare Gun: Part 4, Clara Woods
- In Clara Woods, reach the CEG Lockers.
- Scan the barcode at the lockers to obtain PIN 184.
- Use the PIN to open Locker 75 and collect the Flare Gun and its flare cartridges.
This is the important missable firearm: the post-release guide specifically identifies it as optional. Check the locker area before leaving rather than assuming the Flare Gun will be granted later.

The Shotgun is added to the inventory automatically when the story enters CEG Tower. The walkthrough does not require a separate search or optional interaction to obtain it.

New Game Plus weapons
Axe
The Axe becomes available after one completed game. Walkthroughs report two placements: Shore Wynd storage when playing as Simon in Part 1, and the shed in the yard near Mr. Stewart’s house while playing as Zoe. These are reported placements; the sources do not provide an official item database confirming every run variation.

- Day One Edition Bonus: CRTV Style: Rusted, CRTV Style: Beach Edition
- When Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to "put things in order", he meets a city lying quietly in dense fog, seemingly abandoned, yet anything but dormant
- After venturing further to understand his connection to this place and its inhabitants, he gradually discovers fragments of the past rising to the surface
- Simon must explore, evade and survive from a first-person perspective. It uses a limited arsenal of weapons and tools, including the CRTV: a portable TV to receive unstable signals
- The dodging is tension, the battles are hectic and the story-based puzzles reveal a truth that does not want to remain hidden
Pistol-3000
First complete the Sci-Fi ending. The Pistol-3000 then appears in subsequent New Game Plus runs. Reported locations are Shore Wynd storage as Simon and the Floor 5 Boardroom as Richard. Completing the game alone is not the stated unlock condition for this weapon; the walkthrough specifies the Sci-Fi ending.

Townfall is framed as first-person survival with a limited set of weapons and tools, including the CRTV, rather than a shooter built around a large arsenal. Konami’s official product description says Simon must “explore, evade, and survive” with limited equipment. PlayStation likewise emphasizes careful movement, selective confrontation, and attention to detail in its game overview.

Tom’s Guide’s reviewer describes stealth as typically preferable and notes that firing the Pistol can dispatch enemies quickly but makes noise. Treat that as the reviewer’s play observation, not a universal damage or detection rule. In practical terms, weigh the immediate benefit of using a gun against the noise and the option to avoid or distract an enemy instead.
