Separate permissions, optional use of your ChatGPT plan, signing out, and deleting the app account are different matters.
What is Sign in with ChatGPT?
It is an identity-provider sign-in option. Start on a participating app or website, choose “Sign in with ChatGPT” or “Continue with ChatGPT” if offered, review the information and permissions requested, then continue if you want to create, link, or access an account there. OpenAI describes the feature in its Help Center article, “Sign in with ChatGPT.”

OpenAI’s Help Center says the feature is available globally to authenticated ChatGPT users, including people in Enterprise organizations. It is available on OpenAI Academy and ChatGPT Sites and is rolling out across selected plugins and partner sites. The article lists Airtable, GitLab, HubSpot, Notion, Supabase, and Vercel as initial partners. Availability depends on the partner and may also depend on organization settings.

For identity sign-in, the external app receives your name, email address, and profile picture if you have one. This sign-in alone does not share your ChatGPT conversations, memory, files, tokens, billing information, or other ChatGPT account data.

OpenAI also processes information needed to authenticate you, apply organization settings, complete authorization, and protect the sign-in flow. Its examples include account identifiers, authentication provider, workspace or organization, app and permission details, sign-in outcome, and technical or security information. That is OpenAI’s processing; it is not a list of information the external app necessarily receives.
Does signing in give the app access to my chats or other data?
No—not through identity sign-in alone. An app may separately ask for permission to access specific data or perform specific actions. Treat that as a separate authorization: review what the app requests before approving it. For Business and Enterprise users, an organization administrator may need to approve delegated access.

Consider the app’s own privacy information and data controls as well. Permission to use an identity or other specifically authorized access does not establish what the app may retain under its own policies.
Can I use my ChatGPT plan in the app?
Plan use is a separate, optional feature, not an automatic consequence of signing in. Eligible Plus and Pro users may choose to have qualifying AI requests in an app count toward ChatGPT Work and Codex usage included in their plan. The partner may offer this only on certain app plans. The app may also charge separately for its subscription, infrastructure, services, or premium features.

OpenAI says users can view app usage and set a weekly app limit under ChatGPT Settings > Usage. That limit caps usage; it is not a separate allowance and does not increase the overall plan limits. If you do not enable plan use, you can still be signed in to the partner, but requests there will not count toward your ChatGPT plan through that connection.
Using plan capacity through an app does not by itself give that app access to your ChatGPT conversations or memories, and it does not share an OpenAI API key. Review any other permissions separately.

How do I disconnect an app from ChatGPT?
For connections that have management controls, OpenAI’s current instructions are:
- In ChatGPT, open Settings > Security and login.
- Under Login connections, select Sign in with ChatGPT.
- Select the app or site, then choose Disconnect under Manage connection.
- Confirm by selecting Disconnect again.
OpenAI says a connection used only to sign in, without using the ChatGPT plan, may not show Manage connection or Disconnect. If those controls are absent, sign out in the external app to end its session. To delete the account there, use that app’s account-deletion controls or contact its support.

What is the difference between signing out, disconnecting, and deleting?

These are separate actions. In particular, disconnecting is not a request to erase data already held by the provider; ask that provider about its deletion process. Signing out of the app also does not revoke the connection. If you later sign in again, review the permissions requested before continuing.
What if the sign-in option or access does not work?
- You do not see Sign in with ChatGPT: The app may not support it yet, it may not be available to your account, or your organization may restrict it. Try another sign-in method the app offers or contact your organization administrator.
- You can sign in, but the app cannot access requested data: Check whether the app requires a separate authorization. Business and Enterprise members may need a global administrator to approve delegated access before they can authorize it.
- Your organization manages access: OpenAI says Sign in with ChatGPT is enabled by default for organizations without an explicit identity policy; existing allow or deny policies and approved-application lists remain in effect. Global administrators manage organization-level application permissions in External access in the OpenAI Admin Console.
Identity sign-in and delegated data access are separate permissions. In the described admin preview for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise, delegated access for ChatGPT Sites and Ads is off by default and requires explicit administrator approval; member authorization and existing product permissions still apply. Organization policy and feature availability can change.
