What Admin Host Info does
Microsoft Graph documents adminShowHostInfo as a Boolean that controls whether administrator host information appears on the login window. The property description does not enumerate the displayed fields, so do not assume it will show a hostname, serial number, macOS version, or any other particular detail. This is a Login window control in an Intune macOS device-features profile. It is distinct from the login-window banner and from a separate menu-bar option that displays hostname and macOS version when the menu bar’s time area is selected. Microsoft’s documentation describes the general profile workflow, but does not establish a stable portal path or exact label for this individual property. Portal labels and available controls can change; locate the Login window controls in the current profile interface rather than relying on an assumed menu hierarchy.
- Create a macOS device-features profile. In the Microsoft Intune admin center, start a new configuration profile for macOS and choose the device-features profile type. Microsoft describes these profiles as a way to configure device features and settings. Create iOS/iPadOS or macOS device profile with Microsoft Intune.
- Configure Login window settings. In the profile’s configuration settings, find the Login window controls. Enable the administrator host-information option if the current interface exposes it. The corresponding Graph property is
adminShowHostInfo; its documented function is to control whether administrator host information is shown. - Assign the profile to the intended group. Choose the user or device groups that should receive the policy. Microsoft recommends group-assigned device configuration profiles for configuring and enforcing macOS settings. - Review and create the profile. Check the selected configuration settings and assignments, then create the profile.
- Check policy status and inspect a Mac. Review the profile’s per-device configuration status in Intune after targeted devices receive policy. Then inspect the login window on representative Macs to confirm whether the setting took effect and what information is actually shown.
Validate the rollout
Use a pilot to distinguish a configuration problem from a difference in operating-system behavior or targeting. Check that the device is in the assigned group, review its reported configuration status, and compare the profile settings with what appears at the login window. If the setting is unavailable in the tenant’s interface, or the login window does not reflect the profile, verify the current Intune controls and the behavior on the specific macOS release before expanding deployment.

- Confirm the profile targets the intended user or device group.
- Review per-device configuration status for the Macs in the pilot.
- Observe the login window directly; do not infer the displayed fields from the property name.
- Keep this control separate from banner settings and other sign-in options when troubleshooting.
Scope and related macOS requirements
The Intune reference says Login window settings apply to all enrollment types. The Graph property is documented on a beta resource page, which establishes its name and stated purpose but not a stable Graph API contract or an exact portal path for the setting.
Microsoft’s shared-Mac Platform SSO instructions describe a separate scenario with its own requirements, including macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Those requirements apply to that shared-device Platform SSO configuration, not to Admin Host Info itself. Join a Mac device with Microsoft Entra ID and configure it for shared device scenarios.
