What does Contact Form v5 include?
Colorlib describes Contact Form v5 as a clean, minimal design. Its distinguishing feature is a service dropdown: selecting services unlocks additional options. It also includes a budget selector. Those fields may suit a project inquiry where visitors need to describe the service they want and an approximate budget, rather than a basic form that collects only a name, email address, and message.

Does this contact form send email by itself?
No. The HTML/CSS template supplies the form interface, not the system that receives and delivers submissions. Visitors can fill in a form, but its markup alone does not send the information to your inbox. How do you make Contact Form v5 send submissions?
- Choose where submissions will go. Use a server-side handler, your CMS’s form-handling feature, or a hosted form service. Colorlib’s guide gives PHP mail, Nodemailer, SendGrid, and Formspree as examples; these are options named by the publisher, not endorsements.
- Connect the form to that handler. Configure its form action and use the POST method, following the handler or service’s setup instructions. The action must point to a destination that can process the submitted data; adding an action value without a working receiver is not enough.
- Validate submissions on the server. Do not rely only on browser-side checks. Colorlib recommends validating submitted data again on the server.
- Test the complete path. Submit the form with realistic values, then confirm the receiving handler accepts the fields and that the message reaches its intended destination. A visual preview cannot establish that delivery is configured.
What should you check when customizing it?
Keep field labels and identifiers aligned
When you add, remove, or rename fields, keep each input’s name and id consistent with its corresponding label. The receiving handler also needs to recognize the field names you submit; otherwise, a form may appear to work while omitting or mislabeling data.
Adjust the styling in the stylesheet
Colorlib’s guide points to the stylesheet for changes to color, font, and spacing. Check that edits preserve readable contrast and make the form’s hierarchy clear, especially if you change the default layout or add questions.

Review the mobile layout and controls
Check the page on a phone-sized screen. Colorlib recommends stacking content that sits side by side on larger screens and making controls comfortably tappable. Confirm that dropdown choices, budget selection, labels, and submission controls remain usable without awkward scrolling or cramped targets.

Is Contact Form v5 the right choice?
It is worth considering if you want a designed starting point with service-dependent questions and a budget selector, and you are prepared to connect and test a submission handler. It is not a complete, ready-to-deliver contact system by itself. Decide based on whether its fields and appearance suit your project, how you will process submissions, whether the mobile layout works after customization, and what terms apply to the actual files you use.
