Linking is optional for running a standard eero network, and it does not make ordinary Wi-Fi faster. The tradeoff is that eero says linked features may involve sharing account, network, and device information with Amazon.
What linking your Amazon account to eero does
Linking enables certain Amazon Connected Home features. Depending on your devices, region, and setup, these can include eero Built-in, Amazon Frustration-Free Setup for supported devices, and Zigbee smart-home integration. It can also be needed to activate an eero subscription bought through Amazon. You do not need to link accounts simply to operate an ordinary eero network.

Whether linking is useful therefore depends on the specific feature you want—not on a general improvement to your network. Hardware compatibility and regional availability matter, and the feature set may differ by device.
What information eero says may be shared
In its support explanation, eero lists examples of information used for features that require account linking. These include:

- Your Amazon account name and email address.
- Wi-Fi network names and passwords.
- Thread network identifiers and credentials.
- Connected-device information, such as device nicknames and signal strength.
- Configuration for low-power smart-home networks such as Zigbee.
eero says Wi-Fi and Thread credential syncing can help supported Amazon products join the network more easily and can support a shared Thread mesh. This is eero’s description of information associated with linked features, not an independent audit of every aspect of either company’s data handling. Decide based on the feature you want

What eero Built-in can—and cannot—promise
eero’s legal disclaimer, last updated 23 October 2024, states maximums of up to 1,000 sq. ft. of additional coverage, up to 100 Mbps, and 10 or fewer connected devices in the 5 GHz band. These are vendor-stated limits, not guaranteed household results. eero says actual performance can vary with network configuration, interference, device use, building materials, and obstructions.

That disclaimer lists availability in the United States, Canada, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the United Kingdom. eero’s feature page gives compatible examples including Echo Pop, 4th- and 5th-generation Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock, and 4th-generation Echo. Check eero Built-in’s feature information and eero’s compatibility list for current details before relying on a particular model.
Turn off credential syncing or remove stored credentials
If you want to keep account linking for another feature but stop future Frustration-Free Setup credential syncing, use the eero app:

- Open the eero app and tap Settings.
- Tap Advanced networking, then Amazon Connected Home.
- Under Easy device setup, open Frustration-Free Setup and turn it off.
eero says disabling the setting stops future syncing. If you also want to remove credentials Amazon already stores, take the separate removal step in Amazon’s Manage Your Content and Devices. Turning off syncing alone does not remove credentials already stored there.
Unlink your Amazon account from eero
To use eero’s unlink control, follow this path in the eero app:

- Tap Settings.
- Tap Advanced networking.
- Under Integrations, tap Amazon Connected Home.
- Tap Unlink Amazon, then confirm by tapping Unlink Amazon again.
Unlinking can remove access to an eero subscription purchased through Amazon. Check your subscription arrangement before confirming.

Amazon Login is different from account linking
Signing in to eero with Amazon (Amazon Login) and linking an Amazon account through the Connected Home integration are related but distinct. eero says that signing in with Amazon replaces the need to link from Alexa for partner account linking. However, stopping Amazon Login is not the same as using the unlink button: eero’s guidance says it requires deleting the eero account and creating a new one.

Account deletion is consequential: eero says associated networks and services are lost and deletion cannot be undone. Do not delete an account as a casual unlink workaround. If you are unsure which setup applies to your account, contact eero support before taking that step.
