Don’t dismantle or sell a replaced item until you’ve checked its tooltip and the actions available in your current game client. Gear may still help another build or character, or be useful for an upgrade, collection, appearance, or crafting. If you can’t identify its purpose, keep one copy until you do.
How to decide what to do with old gear
- Read the tooltip. Identify the item, check its binding, and see which actions the client actually allows. Restrictions and available actions may differ by item or version.
- Compare it with your needs. Check whether it could improve your current equipment, support another build, or be useful to another character.
- Check for other uses. Look for a possible upgrade, collection, appearance, or crafting use. If you can’t confirm whether the item matters, retain one copy temporarily. An unofficial AION 2 guide recommends checking these uses before clearing old gear. Read the guide.
- Inspect any recycling option before confirming. If the live client offers Item Extraction or another recycling action, review the displayed costs and rewards for that specific item. Unofficial guides describe different systems and outcomes, so don’t assume a fixed return.
- Sell only when the client allows it and you’ve ruled out other uses. The sources reviewed do not establish a universal sale rule for every item.
Dismantling or selling: what to compare
There is no confirmed universal winner. The right choice depends on whether the item qualifies for an action, what the client says you will receive, and whether you might need the gear again.

| Decision factor | What to check |
|---|---|
| Eligibility | Does the item’s tooltip or action menu offer this option? Sale and extraction eligibility may depend on item restrictions. |
| Return | Compare the currency shown for a sale with the materials or other rewards shown for recycling. A VGC guide dated October 1, 2026 reports that Item Extraction can return upgrade materials and a cosmetic skin, but the official pages reviewed do not confirm those rewards or identify which global items qualify. See the VGC guide. |
| Potential future use | Consider combat, upgrades, collections, appearances, crafting, and whether another character could use the item. |
| Reversibility | Before confirming, consider whether you can reacquire the item if you later need it. The sources reviewed do not establish universal recovery rules. |
| Client and region | Use the options and confirmation details shown in your current client; mechanics may vary by item, version, or region. |
Why you should verify recycling claims in game
Unofficial guides describe more than one gear-recycling system. VGC’s October 1, 2026 guide discusses Item Extraction and reports materials and a cosmetic reward. An AllThingsHow guide updated October 2, 2026 describes Substance Morph and Gear Transfer, and says duplicate dungeon gear can be recycled into materials. Read the AllThingsHow guide. These reports differ in scope; neither establishes a universal result for every item in the global client. Treat the item’s own action and confirmation panels as the practical check before committing gear.

What is confirmed about Aion 2’s launch
The official AION 2 global site lists October 5, 2026 as the launch date. That date is release context, not confirmation of a particular sale, extraction, or recycling rule. Check the official AION 2 global site.
