Choose the original OpenRun Pro only if its advertised extra two hours of battery life matters to you and you can find a legitimate unit with acceptable terms. Shokz marks that Pro model discontinued, and its IP55 sweat-resistance claim is not the same as the OpenRun’s IP67 rating.
OpenRun vs. original OpenRun Pro: the key differences
The figures below are Shokz’s published specifications, not results from independent comparative testing. Battery life is advertised runtime; it does not guarantee what an individual runner will get.

Which model makes more sense for your runs?
Choose OpenRun if water resistance and current availability matter most
Shokz gives OpenRun an IP67 rating and adds the explicit qualification “Not for swimming.” That is a more clearly stated water-resistance specification than the original Pro’s IP55 sweat-resistance claim, but it is not a reason to use either model for swimming. The OpenRun is the straightforward choice if you want the model Shokz currently presents on its product page; check the exact regional listing for the size and charging option you want.
Consider the original Pro if longer advertised runtime is your priority
Shokz advertises up to 10 hours for the original Pro, compared with 8 hours for OpenRun. The Pro specification sheet, dated April 7, 2026, also lists Bluetooth 5.1. Shokz’s January 4, 2022 launch announcement says a five-minute Quick Charge provides 1.5 hours of listening time; that is a company claim, not an independent test. The Pro is also listed at 29 g, versus 26.4 g for OpenRun.

Those published differences do not establish that the Pro sounds better, fits better, or lasts longer in every runner’s use. Its 9th-generation and TurboPitch labels are Shokz’s terminology, not an independent measurement of sound quality.
Check the model name before you buy
The original OpenRun Pro is not the same product as OpenRun Pro 2. Shokz lists Pro 2 separately and gives that model 12 hours in its comparison material; that runtime does not belong to the original Pro. If the listing says “Pro 2,” compare its own specifications rather than applying the original Pro figures.

What to verify before buying a discontinued Pro
Shokz marks the original OpenRun Pro discontinued. The official product page does not establish whether authorized new stock remains in your country, nor does the source information establish current prices or warranty terms. Before paying, confirm the seller’s authorization, the exact model and condition, return policy, and warranty applicable in your market. A listing alone is not proof of authorized stock.

Verdict
Buy OpenRun for the clearer IP67 specification and a currently presented product line. Buy the original OpenRun Pro only when its up-to-10-hour advertised battery life is worth the extra uncertainty of sourcing a discontinued model—and after verifying the seller and purchase terms. These recommendations follow Shokz’s published specifications; they are not based on independent head-to-head testing.
