Shinco’s Australian product page describes the SPS-12C-AU as a portable air conditioner with cooling, dehumidification and fan modes. These are manufacturer-listed specifications for that regional SKU, not confirmation that every SPS-12C sold elsewhere has identical electrical or performance details.

Why another listing gives different dimensions and weight
CHOICE’s SPS-12C listing reports 3.5 kW cooling capacity and R290 refrigerant, but gives a weight of 29 kg and dimensions of 73 × 43 × 36 cm. It also lists a 180 cm cord, window kit and remote control as accessories. Those weight and dimension values differ from Shinco’s Australian SKU page; the available listings do not explain whether this reflects regional variants or different measurement conventions.

CHOICE’s accessible page restricts its room-size and dehumidifier-capacity fields to members. Those values therefore cannot be used here to establish coverage or moisture-removal performance. Treat the listing as a separate source of specifications rather than merging its details with the Australian SKU. CHOICE’s SPS-12C listing identifies its reported specifications and accessories.
Room coverage is not established for this exact unit
Shinco’s general FAQ places 12,000 BTU portable air conditioners in a broad 300–400-square-foot range. That is category-level manufacturer guidance, not a verified room rating for the SPS-12C and not an independent test. Room conditions and installation matter, and the sources here do not establish a model-specific coverage result. Shinco’s FAQ also says its window venting kit seals around the exhaust hose and that an additional window kit may be purchased for larger windows.

Installation depends on the supplied exhaust hose
A portable air conditioner needs to vent hot exhaust air outdoors. The SPS-12C manual says to use the supplied hose without extending it or substituting another hose. It specifies a length of 280–1,500 mm, requires the hose to remain unobstructed, and warns against substantial bends. The manual states: “The length of the exhaust pipe shall be 280~1,500mm, and this length is based on the specifications of the air conditioning. Do not use extension tubes or replace it with other different hoses, or this may cause a malfunction.”

- Let the unit stand upright. Before use, keep it upright for at least two hours.
- Choose a level location. Place it on a flat surface.
- Leave clearance. Keep at least 50 cm between the unit and walls or other objects.
- Vent through a suitable window opening. Use the window sealing plate or window kit to seal around the exhaust hose; check that the opening and kit fit before relying on the installation.
- Route the hose within its specified range. Keep it clear and avoid substantial bends. Do not add an extension or replace it with a different hose.
These requirements come from the SPS-12C instruction manual. If a hose or window component is missing or damaged, confirm that a replacement is compatible with the exact regional model. Shinco’s FAQ mentions an additional window kit for larger windows, but the sources do not verify a model-specific replacement-parts listing.

Filter care and seasonal storage
The manual recommends checking and cleaning the filter screen every two weeks when dust has accumulated. It directs users to remove the filter screens, wash them with warm water and neutral detergent, and let them dry in the shade before reinstalling. For seasonal storage, it says to drain and dry the unit. Follow the manual’s instructions for the specific unit rather than assuming another portable AC’s maintenance procedure applies.
