“Hard reset” can mean either restarting your Shark robot vacuum or restoring it to factory settings. They are different procedures. For a simple restart, follow the instructions for your exact model; for a factory reset, do not use a button combination unless Shark lists it for that model and region.
First decide which reset you need
- Restart (reboot): turns the robot off and back on. Try this when it is unresponsive.
- Factory reset: restores factory settings. Shark’s available instructions do not establish what data or settings are erased on every model, so check the model-specific guide before proceeding.
Find your model before pressing buttons
Use the model number printed on the robot or in its documentation, then select the matching guide in Shark’s US manuals index. Button instructions vary by model and region; do not assume a method documented for one robot applies to another.

- Hold the DOCK button for 5–7 seconds to turn the robot off.
- Return the robot to its base to turn it back on.
These steps are for the named UK model, not a universal procedure for all Shark robot vacuums. See the RV2620WAUK guide for its instructions.

Factory-reset instructions are model- and region-specific
Shark Customer Service Italy says to hold CLEAN and DOCK together for 30 seconds to restore factory settings. The available instruction does not establish that this combination works across every Shark model or region. Check your exact model’s guide, or confirm the procedure with Shark support, before using it. The available sources also do not establish which maps, schedules, or other settings are erased on each model.
If the problem is Wi-Fi or app connectivity
A factory reset may not be the first thing to try. For the RV2620WAUK, Shark says the phone must use a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network for the app; its guide also recommends avoiding VPNs or proxies and checking that Wi-Fi isolation is off. Shark’s US 2400WD Series manual likewise specifies 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for app use. Confirm the requirements in your own model’s manual.

- Check that the phone is connected to the required Wi-Fi band.
- If you use a VPN or proxy, try disconnecting it while troubleshooting.
- Check whether Wi-Fi isolation is enabled on the network.
- Follow the connection troubleshooting for your model before attempting a factory reset.
Shark’s 2400WD Series Owner’s Guide directs users to customer service if its Wi-Fi troubleshooting does not resolve the connection problem. Shark also has a UK article on Wi-Fi issues for the RV2900XEUK Series, dated 31 March 2026; its guidance is specific to that series.

If the matching manual does not resolve the issue, or it does not confirm a factory-reset procedure for your robot, contact Shark support. Share the model number and describe whether you need a reboot, a factory reset, or help reconnecting the app. This helps avoid applying a button sequence documented for a different model or region.
