Use Notion Forms for intake that belongs in a Notion database, Tally when you want an external form builder with direct syncing, and a webhook when you need custom processing or extra actions.
Choose the right form-to-Notion route

Set up Tally to send responses to a Notion database
Tally’s documented direct integration connects a form to a Notion workspace and database without requiring Zapier or another third-party automation service. Prepare the database first so its properties match the questions you plan to ask. Tally’s integration guide

- Prepare the destination database. Add the properties you need, using suitable types such as title, status, date, or select. Decide whether long written answers belong in a property or in the page content.
- Connect the workspace. Open the form’s integration settings, authorize the Notion workspace, and choose the destination database.
- Map each question. Match form answers to the corresponding Notion property or page content. Check that the destination property type can hold the answer.
- Activate the integration and test it. Submit one test response, then open the database and verify that each value landed in the intended place.
- Check audience and identity settings. Confirm who can open the form and whether the way responses identify respondents suits your use case before sharing broadly.
Tally says its direct integration is free for its users with unlimited submissions. That is a vendor plan claim, not an independently measured limit; check Tally’s current terms before relying on it. Tally’s integration guide

Use a native Notion Form
Notion Forms are attached to databases: form questions correspond to database properties, and submissions appear in a table view called “Responses.” This is the most direct option when you want to create the intake form and store its results in Notion. Notion’s Forms guide
Set access and identity before sharing
- To change form sharing settings, Notion requires full database access. At least view access is needed to copy and share a form URL.
- Where workspace controls allow it, “Anyone on the web with link” lets people respond without being Notion users. Public-link responses are anonymous by default.
- An Enterprise workspace owner can disable web sharing; enabling that control takes down existing published forms.
- For forms limited to workspace members, you can configure how respondents interact with their submitted responses when anonymous responses are off.
- If you duplicate a template form, check its destination: Notion warns that it may still send responses to the original creator unless you create a separate form.
Notion also supports form automations for new responses or selected answers, including status updates and Slack notifications. That can cover simple follow-up actions without building an incoming webhook workflow. Notion’s Forms guide

When a webhook workflow is the better fit
Use a webhook when a direct integration cannot perform the processing or routing you need. For example, an automation can accept a website form submission, format the data, and create a Notion database page. n8n publishes a template for that pattern. It also has a separate template that uses a new row in the Google Sheet connected to Google Forms as the trigger, then creates a Notion entry; sending a Gmail confirmation is optional. Build a reliable incoming-webhook flow
- Configure the form to send its submission payload as an HTTP POST to the webhook endpoint.
- Validate the request signature if the provider supports one. Tally offers an optional SHA-256 signing secret.
- Translate incoming answers into the correct Notion database properties, then create the page.
- Log delivery failures so you can find and recover submissions that were not written to Notion.
- Return success only after the payload is safely accepted. Tally requires a successful 2XX response within 10 seconds and documents retries after failure. If processing may take longer, hand the work to an internal queue and respond promptly.
These delivery details matter for a webhook receiver; they are not a reason to build one if Tally’s direct integration or a Notion Form already meets your needs. Tally’s webhook documentation

Check Notion permissions and integrations
Notion’s connection webhooks monitor changes to shared Notion content; they are not an incoming form-submission collector. For form intake, use a Notion Form, a form provider’s direct integration, or an external webhook endpoint that then writes to Notion. Notion API integrations help

- Before launch, make sure the connected integration or account can access the destination database.
- Confirm the database properties and field mappings with a real test response.
- Review form sharing, workspace restrictions, and whether anonymous responses are acceptable.
- For webhooks, plan how failed deliveries are recorded and retried.
