The mower does not need a perimeter wire, yet its map still needs to match the real shape and hazards of your yard. Whether it is a fit depends on your mowable area, slopes and edges, and willingness to check and adjust the app map.
What happened during the two-month trial?
In a review published August 26, 2026, Mike Prospero described a generally positive experience with the i215, while noting shortcomings. His account is one reviewer’s two-month trial, not a controlled comparison or a guarantee of how the mower will perform on another property. The clearest practical lesson was that wire-free operation did not make boundary mapping foolproof.

How setup and mapping worked
Prospero set up the charging base and connected the mower through the Navimow app. He did not install a boundary wire or a separate tower. The app offered automatic yard mapping or manual perimeter mapping, in which the user drives the mower around the lawn’s edge. These are setup details from his trial, not a claim that every yard can be mapped accurately without intervention.

Why a lawn edge needed a map correction
At one corner with a drop-off, the i215 repeatedly nosedived off the lawn. Prospero redrew the boundary to exclude a few inches of that edge; after the change, he reported that the mower rarely strayed. For a yard with an abrupt edge, this is a reason to inspect the mapped boundary closely and adjust it rather than assuming the initial map captures every hazard.

Is the i215 the right size for your lawn?
Segway recommends the i215 LiDAR for lawns up to 1,500 m². That is a manufacturer recommendation, not a result measured by Prospero. The i2 LiDAR manual lists approximately 426 m² of mowing area per charge and about 160 minutes of typical mowing time per full charge; these are also manufacturer figures, not measurements from the review.
Compare the recommended area with the part of your property the mower can actually cut. Layout matters alongside total area: divided zones and narrow passages may affect how you plan mapping and operation, but the available review does not establish how the i215 handles any particular passage or multi-zone layout.
How to assess slopes and boundary edges
The i2 LiDAR manual specifies a maximum incline of 45% inside the working area and 25% at the boundary. Those limits are not interchangeable: the interior rating should not be treated as a promise that the mower can manage an equally steep lawn edge. If your yard has abrupt drop-offs or steep boundaries, account for those conditions when deciding where to draw the map.
What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
The manual’s model-series table lists a 22 cm cutting width, a 2–7 cm cutting-height range, and a sound power level of 59 dB(A). These are manufacturer specifications; check the manual for your region before relying on them. They do not establish how evenly the i215 cut Prospero’s lawn: his review evidence does not provide quantified cut-quality measurements or yard dimensions.
Segway describes the i2 LiDAR family as using LiDAR and vision navigation, with app-based map editing and obstacle detection. Those are manufacturer claims, not independently established performance findings from the two-month review.
Does it require no maintenance?
No. Segway’s product page lists a blade assembly accessory for the i2 LiDAR family. If you need a replacement, confirm that the specific part is compatible with the i215 and available in your region; the family listing alone does not verify compatibility with every i215 listing.
Who is most likely to be satisfied?
- Consider it if: your mowable area is within Segway’s 1,500 m² recommendation and you want to avoid installing a perimeter wire.
- Plan extra map checks if: your lawn has drop-offs, abrupt edges, divided areas, or narrow passages. The reviewer’s corner incident shows why a mapped boundary deserves inspection.
- Check the limits carefully if: your yard has slopes near its edges. The manual’s boundary incline rating is lower than its rating for the working area.
- Look elsewhere or reassess if: you expect setup to remove all boundary decisions, or your yard’s area and layout do not suit the published recommendation.
