Telegram’s own search and a third-party index of 95,000 channels are different things. Telegram offers global search for public-channel posts; the 95,000-channel figure belongs to Yosou, whose author reported indexing about 95,000 public channels and groups and roughly 675,000 messages as of September 21, 2026. For Chinese-language searches, the author recommends normalizing text, accounting for Simplified and Traditional variants, and tokenizing Chinese alongside Latin letters and digits—but does not report a controlled test proving one method works best.
What does “searching Telegram” mean?
It can refer to several distinct tools, with different searchable material. Telegram’s built-in search, a topic directory, and a third-party index should not be treated as one shared database.

| Method | What it searches or offers | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Telegram global public-post search | Full-text posts or hashtags in public channels, including channels you have not joined, according to Telegram’s API documentation. | It is Telegram’s search feature, not a search of Yosou’s reported 95,000-channel corpus. Premium users have a limited free allowance; further searches may require Stars. |
| Yosou’s third-party index | The author reported an index of about 95,000 public channels and groups and roughly 675,000 messages, with a bot and web entry point. | These are the author’s project figures, not an independently audited Telegram-wide count. The article does not establish complete coverage or a measured search-recall rate. |
| Discovery directories and broader third-party search services | VIEW describes filters for type, category, and language. TG.ME advertises browser-based search and reading across public Telegram content. | Coverage, historical depth, freshness, and language recall are service claims; check them directly rather than assuming equivalence to Telegram’s search. |
How to search public posts with Telegram itself
Telegram documents channels.searchPosts as a way to globally search public-channel posts, including posts in channels the user does not belong to. It supports a full-text query or a global hashtag search; the API specifies that exactly one of those should be supplied. This is useful when you want to search public posts without first finding and joining every channel.

What Yosou reports about Chinese-language search
In an article published September 21, 2026, the Yosou author says the project indexes about 95,000 public channels and groups and roughly 675,000 messages. Those numbers describe the project’s own index at the time of publication, not all Telegram content. The article presents its search approach as practitioner guidance rather than a controlled benchmark.
Normalize scripts and tokenize Chinese deliberately
Chinese text does not reliably split into words at spaces, and Simplified and Traditional forms can differ. The author’s suggested indexing sequence is to normalize text, account for both script variants, split Chinese into CJK bigrams, and retain Latin letters and digits as their own tokens. This can help searches involving mixed strings—for example, Chinese text alongside an acronym, model number, or other Latin-and-digit term—but the article does not quantify recall or establish that bigrams outperform other approaches.

- Text relevance: BM25 scoring for matching terms.
- Recency: how recently a post appeared.
- Channel-quality measurements: signals such as subscriber and message counts or media ratio.
- Post views: a measure of attention to an individual post.
These are the author’s reported design choices, not signals shown by a comparison study to be optimal. When assessing any results page, check whether its ranking logic is explained and whether it gives you enough context to judge a hit.
How to evaluate results and limit spam
A large index can make more material discoverable without making every result useful. The Yosou author warns about spam, cryptocurrency promotions, affiliate spam, and pirated-media dumps. The article suggests several possible controls, but they are not universal guarantees against low-quality results.
Rank #4
- PRIVACY DISPLAY: Automatically hide your screen from those beside you. The built-in privacy display can be preset¹ to turn on when receiving notifications, typing passwords, or using specific apps
- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist² with Galaxy AI.³ Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping

- HELP THAT KEEPS UP: Stay in the moment while Now Nudge with Galaxy AI helps you respond faster and stay organized with smart suggestions⁵ that appear exactly when you need them on your phone
- Check the source channel and its recent posts before trusting a result or acting on it.
- Look for whether a service explains its source coverage, update frequency, language handling, and ranking signals.
- Treat subscriber thresholds, media-to-text ratios, duplicate-title detection, and limits on results from one channel as possible filtering techniques, not proof that an index is clean.
- Be cautious with directories whose coverage or archive claims are not explained or independently verifiable.
The Yosou article describes t.me/s/<channel> as a public web mirror for a channel’s recent posts, not a complete archive. That is the article’s characterization; it should not be taken as a full specification of Telegram’s web features.
How to choose a search method
There is no head-to-head independent comparison establishing that one of these options finds more Chinese-language content. Choose based on the kind of discovery you need, then check the service’s limits and results for yourself.

- Use Telegram’s global post search when you want to search public-channel posts directly, including posts from channels you have not joined. Check the current allowance in the app.
- Try a language or topic directory when filters such as language, category, or channel type are useful. VIEW describes these filters, but its coverage and Chinese-language recall are not independently established here.
- Consider a broader third-party search service when browser-based searching or reading across public Telegram content is useful. TG.ME advertises that capability; verify its actual scope and historical depth.
- Assess a specialized index such as Yosou on its own terms: its reported corpus size is a project claim, while its Chinese-aware tokenization and ranking description explain an approach, not measured performance.
For any option, compare searchable scope and historical depth, handling of Simplified and Traditional Chinese, update recency, spam controls, account or payment requirements, and transparency about sources. No independent statistic establishes Chinese-language Telegram search recall, and no controlled comparison here identifies a best tokenization or ranking recipe.
