Then check full-page scrolling and resource-blocking rules. If you need the API to report a failed image request, configure a narrow fail_if_request_failed pattern. The exact cause depends on the target page and request parameters.
1. Check when ScreenshotOne takes the screenshot
ScreenshotOne’s wait_until option supports load, domcontentloaded, networkidle0 and networkidle2; its default is load. A page can add images after that event, so try a longer delay or wait for an application-specific selector. See the Screenshot Options reference.

A selector wait confirms that an element exists in the DOM; it does not confirm that the element is visible or that its image request has completed. Choose a wait condition that fits how the page loads its images, and verify the result in the screenshot.

2. Trigger lazy-loaded images in full-page captures
Set full_page=true for a full-page capture. ScreenshotOne scrolls automatically by default to help trigger lazy loading, but some pages need slower or smaller scroll steps. Tune full_page_scroll_delay upward or full_page_scroll_by downward, then compare the output. The options reference lists a default scroll delay of 400 microseconds and notes that some sites need a larger value; do not treat that default or any suggested delay as a guarantee for every page.

ScreenshotOne’s full-page screenshots guide also suggests trying the by_sections algorithm and adding 5–10 seconds of delay for difficult pages. These are tuning suggestions, not universal settings; more waiting can increase render time.
3. Check resource-blocking rules
Review block_resources, block_requests and any patterns or other blockers in your request. ScreenshotOne can block images directly, and a broad rule can also catch an image host. Blocking stylesheets, scripts, XHR or fetch may change the layout or stop supporting content from rendering. Remove the relevant rule or narrow it to resources that are not needed. 4. Surface failures for required image requests
By default, ScreenshotOne can return a screenshot even when a resource fails. A successful screenshot response therefore does not prove that every image loaded. Set fail_if_request_failed with a narrow wildcard pattern matching a required resource if your integration needs to detect its failure. A matching browser or network error, or an HTTP 4xx–5xx response, can cause the screenshot request to fail.

ScreenshotOne does not automatically retry these failures. If the API reports matched_failed_request, your integration must decide whether to retry, and should bound retries rather than loop indefinitely.

5. Check selector and viewport capture settings
For a selector screenshot, selector_scroll_into_view defaults to true and can help trigger lazy loading around the selected element. If content is still absent, confirm that the selector targets the intended element and check capture_beyond_viewport and viewport dimensions against the intended output. These settings affect what area is captured; they do not ensure that an image request has finished.
6. Compare the page and image access from the render environment
Open the page in a regular browser and check whether the image appears there. If possible, inspect whether its image URL is reachable from the environment making the capture. A page may load differently along different network routes, and its required resources vary; ScreenshotOne’s proxy guidance cautions that routing can affect behavior. If an image is unavailable to the render environment, increasing the wait alone will not make it available.

Troubleshooting checklist
- Only images added after initial page load are missing: Test a delay or a selector wait, remembering that selector presence does not prove image completion.
- Images below the fold are missing in a full-page capture: Check automatic scrolling, then tune the scroll delay and step size; consider
by_sectionsfor a difficult page. - Images from one host are missing: Inspect blocking rules for patterns that match that host or a dependency.
- The API returns a screenshot despite a missing image: Configure a narrow
fail_if_request_failedpattern if you need a matching resource failure to become visible to your integration. - An element screenshot omits its image: Check the selector and
selector_scroll_into_view, then verify the viewport andcapture_beyond_viewportsettings. - The image also fails in the target page or is unreachable from the render environment: Investigate image availability and network access; waiting longer will not fix an inaccessible resource.
