How to estimate the number of billable screenshots
Count fresh captures, not every request
ScreenshotMachine’s pricing FAQ says it charges for new, fresh screenshots and that cached screenshot loads are not billed. The pricing page describes a 14-day cache. The API documentation says cacheLimit can be set from 0 through 14 days: 0 requests a fresh capture, while the documented default is 14 days. If your application repeatedly requests the same URL and settings while a cached result remains available, those requests may not consume fresh-capture allowance.
For a rough monthly estimate, count the distinct captures your workflow needs to generate anew, rather than multiplying all API calls by the allowance. Treat cache behavior as dependent on your request settings and the vendor’s caching rules; a request configured to force freshness should not be budgeted as a cache hit.
Account for overage rounding
ScreenshotMachine says additional screenshots are counted at the end of the billing period and billed in groups of 1,000, rounded down. Its pricing example says up to 999 additional screenshots incur no extra charge, while 1,999 additional screenshots are billed as 1,000. The pricing page lists overage rates for Basic, Pro, and Enterprise only; it does not list a Starter overage rate.
The listed per-screenshot rates are the vendor’s published rates, but the page’s rounding example means the amount billed for an overage depends on the size of the billed group. Confirm the current billing terms on the pricing page if your forecast is near a threshold.
Remember possible VAT
The vendor says VAT may be added for non-business customers based in the EU, depending on the customer’s country tax rules. The pricing page also advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee; reconfirm the current terms directly with ScreenshotMachine before relying on that offer.
What the listed plans say about features and service
ScreenshotMachine’s pricing page lists full-length captures, custom error images, unlimited cached impressions, unlimited traffic, and a 99.99% uptime SLA across its plan listings. It lists basic support for Starter and priority support for paid tiers. These are vendor-stated plan claims, not independent measurements.
The allowance is only one part of fit. The API documentation describes HTTP GET requests with a required customer key and URL, plus optional capture controls. For example, dimensions can be specified as 1024xfull for a full-length image, and the delay option can provide time for animations or late-loading content before capture. The documented formats are JPG, PNG, and GIF; device choices are desktop, phone, and tablet. Documented width values range from 100 to 1,920 pixels and height values from 100 to 9,999 pixels, with full accepted for full-length screenshots.
