Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If a ScreenshotAPI.net screenshot is missing content that normally appears in the browser, first check that JavaScript, XHR, and Fetch requests are not blocked. Then wait for the page’s actual content to become ready: a lifecycle event alone may be too early for an application that renders data asynchronously.
1. Check whether JavaScript and data requests are blocked
ScreenshotAPI.net documents block_js as disabling JavaScript when set to true; its documented default is false. Check the final query string or request payload—not only the code where you think the options are set—for an explicit block_js=true. Shared configuration or URL-building code may add it unexpectedly.
JavaScript can run but still fail to show the expected interface if the requests that supply its data are blocked. The service documents block_xhr for XHR/AJAX requests and block_fetch for Fetch API requests. Both defaults are documented as false. Keep them unblocked when the target page depends on API data. Also review other resource-blocking settings if the page needs blocked resources to render. See ScreenshotAPI.net’s parameter documentation.
2. Wait for the page state your screenshot needs
Allowing scripts is not the same as waiting for the application to finish rendering. A page can reach an early browser lifecycle milestone before its API calls complete or its visible components appear. ScreenshotAPI.net documents these wait_for_event choices:

| Setting | What it waits for | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
domcontentloaded |
The document has been parsed; it does not wait for images, styles, or external resources. | Only when the needed content is already present at that early stage. |
load |
The page’s load event. | When the page’s required resources are expected to be ready by that event. |
networkidle |
A period of network quiet. | For dynamic pages that fetch content through APIs or AJAX, if their request behavior allows the network to become idle. |
Network quiet does not prove a particular chart, dashboard, or other component is visible. Some pages also maintain long-running connections, so the network may not become idle as expected. The event descriptions and options are in the official reference.
3. Wait for a specific element, or use a measured delay
Wait for the content element
ScreenshotAPI.net’s feature page describes wait_for_selector, which holds capture until a chosen DOM element exists. This is a more content-specific signal for a chart, map, dashboard, or other component that appears after the initial load. The page says selector, network-idle, and delay controls can be combined. Confirm support for the exact API version and account before depending on the selector option; availability for an unspecified account or version is not established here. See ScreenshotAPI.net’s feature page.

Add only as much delay as the page needs
The documented delay option waits a number of milliseconds after page load before capture. Its listed default is zero; examples include 500 ms and 2,000 ms. A short, measured delay can help with late scripts, animations, charts, or API responses, but it is an approximate time-based workaround rather than proof that the desired content is ready. Longer waits increase render time.
ScreenshotAPI.net describes the setting this way: “This parameter defines a waiting period (in milliseconds) before the screenshot or render is captured after the page has been loaded in the browser.” — ScreenshotAPI.net, Lazy Loading & Delay documentation. The documentation does not identify an author or publication date.

4. Load content that appears only after scrolling
If the missing material is below the fold and loads when it enters the viewport, the documented lazy_load=true option scrolls from top to bottom to activate deferred or viewport-triggered content. It is not a general substitute for waiting for JavaScript data or application readiness.
scroll_delay sets the pause between scroll steps. ScreenshotAPI.net lists a 500 ms default and examples from 100 to 1,000 ms. On a long page, a large delay can use up the available timeout. Configure lazy loading only when scrolling triggers the content you need; the options and examples appear in the official reference.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
5. Check the timeout and the actual request
The documented timeout is the maximum page-load wait before aborting, with a listed default of 100,000 ms. A value set too low can stop a heavy page before it finishes; lazy-load scrolling can also overrun the deadline. Treat that documented default as a reference, not a guaranteed value for every plan or API version.
ScreenshotAPI.net identifies a render endpoint and says requests require a target URL and API token. Confirm the target URL, token, and options in the request that actually reaches the service. The available documentation does not establish why any particular screenshot is blank, or diagnose bot protection for a specific target.

6. Choose a wait strategy by the page’s behavior
| Strategy | Readiness signal | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Lifecycle event | A browser document milestone, such as load or domcontentloaded. |
Simple, but an early milestone may precede asynchronous application content. |
| Network idle | Network requests become quiet. | Useful for API-driven pages, but long-running connections may prevent quiet; quiet alone does not confirm a specific UI component. |
| Selector wait | A chosen DOM element exists. | Content-specific when supported; verify support for the exact account and API version. |
| Fixed delay | A chosen amount of elapsed time after page load. | Easy to try, but approximate; longer waits increase render time. |
| Lazy-load scrolling | Content is activated by entering the viewport during a scroll. | Relevant to viewport-triggered content, not a universal JavaScript readiness fix; longer scroll pauses can contribute to timeouts. |
7. Troubleshooting checklist
- Screenshot is blank or missing an app-rendered view: inspect the final request for
block_js=true; allow JavaScript if the page depends on it. - Page shell appears but its data is absent: make sure
block_xhrandblock_fetchare not preventing the requests the application needs. - Some components appear, but charts or dashboard data do not: try a later readiness signal, then a selector wait if available, or a measured delay. JavaScript execution may be working while capture still occurs too early.
- Only below-the-fold items are missing: use lazy-load scrolling if entering the viewport triggers those items, and keep scroll pauses proportionate to the page length.
- Capture aborts before rendering finishes: check whether the configured timeout is too short for the page and its scrolling behavior.
- Options seem to have no effect: verify the target URL, token, endpoint, and final request configuration, and confirm that the option is supported by the API version and account in use.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API; its parameters are compatible with the names other screenshot APIs use, which can make switching easier. It accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers say which verdict and billing outcome applied. Its MCP server includes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents and MCP clients.
