Screenshot API Alternatives to CaptureKit: How to Choose

Compare ScreenshotNeo, ScreenshotOne, Browserless and CaptureKit’s other named alternatives by billing rules, capture controls and workflow fit.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you need a hosted screenshot API instead of CaptureKit, start by matching the service to your workload—not by sorting on the lowest displayed monthly price. ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to consider when clean captures and clear billing matter: it removes common consent banners, popups and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed. For broader browser automation or self-hosting, consider Browserless; for a directly documented paid-plan comparison, ScreenshotOne publishes its quota, rate limits and overage price. CaptureKit’s own alternatives page also names ScrapFly, Urlbox, ScreenshotAPI and ApiFlash, but its starting prices are not independently verified here.

Which CaptureKit alternative should you shortlist?

Choose based on what you actually need the browser to do, what counts as billable usage, and how much control you need over delivery. These services are not interchangeable: some are presented as screenshot APIs, while Browserless is a broader browser-automation and deployment option. The available evidence does not establish a universal winner or comparative performance ranking.

Service Best reason to evaluate it What the available evidence establishes
ScreenshotNeo Clean captures, explicit no-charge outcomes for bot checks and failed loads, and a low-cost paid entry plan. It accepts cookie/consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be disabled. Clean shots alone are billed. Plans include 1,000 free shots monthly without a card, then paid plans from $5 for 3,000 shots. Every feature is on every plan. See ScreenshotNeo.
ScreenshotOne A published pricing and quota structure for comparing a conventional screenshot API. Its official pricing page lists Basic, Growth and Scale plans, request-per-minute limits, overage pricing for Basic, and rules for counting successful uncached renders. Prices exclude VAT. The page advertises up to 100 free screenshots per month.
Browserless A broader browser workflow that may include screenshots, PDFs, Puppeteer or Playwright automation, or self-hosting. Its comparison guide describes hosted and self-hosted options and reports an entry price of $25/month billed annually for 20,000 units; that guide says its pricing was checked on August 6, 2026.
ScrapFly Worth adding to a discovery shortlist because CaptureKit names it as an alternative. CaptureKit’s alternatives page displays a starting price of $30/month. Current provider-side features and price were not independently established here.
Urlbox Worth adding to a discovery shortlist because CaptureKit names it as an alternative. CaptureKit’s alternatives page displays a starting price of $19/month. Current provider-side features and price were not independently established here.
ScreenshotAPI Worth checking if you are surveying CaptureKit’s named alternatives. CaptureKit’s alternatives page displays a starting price of $9/month. Confirm the exact provider and domain before comparing; do not assume this name refers to ScreenshotAPI.net.
ApiFlash Worth adding to a discovery shortlist because CaptureKit names it as an alternative. CaptureKit’s alternatives page displays a starting price of $7/month. Current provider-side features and price were not independently established here.

The last four starting prices are figures displayed by CaptureKit on its own alternatives page, not verified current prices from those providers. Treat them as leads to check, not like-for-like quotes. CaptureKit’s page is useful for finding names, but it is published by the product being compared.

Compare the things that change your real cost

A plan’s headline allowance is only one part of the bill. Before migrating, map your expected request volume and failure patterns to each provider’s counting rules.

Quota, failures, cache and overages

ScreenshotOne’s official pricing page lists Basic at $17/month for 2,000 screenshots, 40 requests per minute, and $0.009 per extra render. Its page says successful screenshots not served from cache count toward quota; unsuccessful requests and cached results do not count, subject to its stated cache rules. The same page advertises up to 100 free screenshots monthly, including HTML and PDF rendering. Growth is listed at $79/month for 10,000 screenshots and 80 requests per minute; Scale is $259/month for 50,000 screenshots and 150 requests per minute. Prices exclude VAT.

Those are ScreenshotOne’s published plan terms, not a universal billing standard. Confirm whether a failed navigation, challenge page, cache hit, retry or asynchronous job consumes quota for each candidate. ScreenshotNeo states that bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing; each response identifies the outcome using X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.

Rate limits are not the same as concurrency

A requests-per-minute limit does not tell you how many browsers can render at once, whether excess work queues, or how quickly queued jobs finish. Ask for the concurrency limit, queue behavior, retry guidance and any asynchronous delivery constraints. Browserless’s comparison guide reports plan units and annual billing for its entry price, but those figures alone do not establish throughput for your workload.

Formats and page controls

Check support for the exact output and capture controls your integration uses: PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF; viewport and device emulation; full-page capture; targeting a CSS selector; and waiting for a selector, a delay or network idle. CaptureKit’s documentation lists PNG, JPEG, WebP and PDF, as well as full-page capture, viewport/device settings, selector targeting, wait conditions, resource or URL blocking, proxy routing, cache options and S3-compatible storage. This is useful as a checklist of requirements, not evidence that CaptureKit or an alternative renders better.

Geography, protected pages and automation scope

If screenshots must reflect a particular region, check proxy and geolocation options and test whether the response shows the intended page rather than a bot challenge. The available comparison guide discusses difficult-page handling, but it does not establish comparative success rates; do not infer that a provider will bypass every protection.

If the task includes interacting with a page, extracting content, or controlling a browser beyond a capture request, compare the broader workflow. Browserless is the strongest documented candidate in this shortlist for that requirement: its comparison guide describes Puppeteer and Playwright support plus hosted and self-hosted options. A screenshot endpoint may be simpler if you only need an image or PDF.

What is established about each alternative?

ScreenshotNeo: clean captures and outcome-aware billing

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request to its API can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture, it accepts the cookie/consent banner like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Only clean shots are billed, and responses say which outcome occurred through X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. It also provides an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.

ScreenshotOne: the clearest documented plan comparison

The page says prices exclude VAT and that successful, uncached screenshots count toward quota, with unsuccessful requests and cached results excluded under its cache rules. Use those terms to estimate your own expected invoice, but verify the provider’s live pricing and exact cache rules before committing. The published figures are plan data, not evidence of comparative speed, accuracy or reliability.

Browserless: for browser automation alongside capture

Consider Browserless when screenshots are one step in a larger automated browser workflow or deployment flexibility matters. Its comparison guide describes screenshot and PDF APIs, Puppeteer/Playwright support, and hosted and self-hosted options. The guide reports $25/month billed annually and 20,000 units for an entry offering, with pricing checked August 6, 2026. Confirm current terms with Browserless; a comparison-guide price may change, and the units should not be assumed to equal screenshots.

CaptureKit’s other named alternatives

CaptureKit names ScrapFly, Urlbox, ScreenshotAPI and ApiFlash on its alternatives page. It displays starting prices of $30/month, $19/month, $9/month and $7/month, respectively. Those numbers are CaptureKit-published comparison figures; provider-specific current plans and feature parity were not verified for this comparison. For ScreenshotAPI in particular, establish the exact vendor and domain before putting it in a shortlist.

A practical selection process

  1. Write down the workload. Estimate monthly pages, peak request rate, expected retries, output format, full-page versus viewport captures, selector needs and any required page interactions.
  2. Model billable outcomes. Apply each provider’s rules for successful shots, cache hits, timeouts, failed loads, challenge pages and overages. Include VAT where applicable; ScreenshotOne explicitly excludes it from its listed prices.
  3. Check throughput separately. Compare requests per minute with concurrency, queueing and asynchronous job limits. Do not treat one published rate limit as a complete capacity measure.
  4. Verify rendering controls. Check the required output format, viewport, full-page behavior, waits, selector targeting, headers, cookies, scripts, blocking and proxy or geo support against provider documentation.
  5. Test representative pages before switching. Use pages from your actual workload, including consent banners, dynamic content and pages that may show bot checks. Record the returned result and billing outcome, not just whether a request returned an image.
  6. Choose the smallest sufficient scope. Use a screenshot API for capture-only work; evaluate a browser automation platform when you need interaction, extraction or deployment control.

Migration and validation checklist

  • Inventory the parameters your CaptureKit integration sends, including output type, viewport, waits, selector, cache and storage behavior.
  • Check whether your target provider supports equivalent parameters and whether names differ. ScreenshotNeo says parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can make switching easier; validate your specific request rather than assuming every setting maps identically.
  • Run a small sample through both integrations and compare output dimensions, full-page boundaries, delayed content and selector results.
  • Log status, response headers, timeout behavior and billable outcome so that failed captures are distinguishable from successful ones.
  • Estimate the bill using observed outcomes and each provider’s published quota mechanics before moving production volume.

Common comparison mistakes

  • Picking by starting price alone: a low entry price may have a smaller allowance, different failure billing, or limits that do not fit your peak load.
  • Comparing quotas as if they were equivalent: check whether units mean successful captures, all requests, cached requests, or a broader usage unit.
  • Assuming a screenshot API is a browser automation platform: confirm support for interaction, scripts, extraction and self-hosting if those are requirements.
  • Treating a vendor’s alternatives page as independent: CaptureKit’s list is a lead source, and its displayed competitor prices should be verified with the provider.
  • Assuming protected-page success: the available material does not provide independent success-rate testing for CAPTCHA or bot-protected sites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an independent overall winner among CaptureKit alternatives?

No comparative benchmark or hands-on test establishes one. The sensible choice depends on your page types, billing rules, throughput needs and whether you need automation beyond screenshots.

Does ScreenshotAPI mean ScreenshotAPI.net?

Not necessarily. The name in CaptureKit’s alternatives list is not enough to establish that it refers to ScreenshotAPI.net; verify the provider’s exact domain before evaluating it.

Are CaptureKit’s displayed starting prices current provider prices?

They are prices displayed on CaptureKit’s alternatives page, not independently verified current quotes from ScrapFly, Urlbox, ScreenshotAPI or ApiFlash.
