SCP: Secret Laboratory has two command environments: the in-game Remote Admin panel (opened with M by default) and the server dashboard’s LocalAdmin console. Remote Admin text commands are restricted by the permissions assigned to your role; the LocalAdmin console is intended to have full server permissions without requiring an in-game rank.

Use help to list commands and help <command> to display syntax on the running server. That live help is important because command names, arguments and permissions can change with game updates. The reference below covers the built-in command set, aliases, permission codes, graphical controls, safe operating procedure and plugin boundaries.

In-game Remote Admin
Press M during a session to open Remote Admin. The panel combines buttons with a text console. A text command runs only when the command is enabled for your role. Some permissions expose only part of a command’s capability, so seeing a command in help does not guarantee that every argument will work for you. The official documentation summarizes the rule this way: “Commands in Text-Based Remote Admin require the user’s role to have certain Permissions to be able to perform them.”
Dashboard LocalAdmin console
Your hosting dashboard’s console is the server’s LocalAdmin console. A hosting guide describes it as having full permissions, so an in-game rank is not required there. Enter the command directly in that console. If a provider documents a prefix for sending Remote Admin commands through its console, follow that provider’s syntax rather than guessing.

- Run
helpto print the command list available in the current environment. - Run
help <command>, such ashelp ban, to see arguments, aliases and usage details. - Check
permin-game to display the permissions currently assigned to your role. - After an update, repeat the help check before using a script or saved procedure.
This runtime check is safer than relying on an old copied list, especially for commands that affect a whole round or the server process.

The table uses the official Remote Admin command names. Angle-bracket values are arguments you replace; aliases are interchangeable spellings. “Not stated in the official table” means that no permission code is listed there for that command.

Permission codes and what they control
Permissions are role-based. They are configured in config_remoteadmin.txt, and the exact combination a role receives determines which commands and sub-functions it can execute. The asterisk represents unrestricted permission access in the relevant command’s table.

The broader permissions matrix also covers player information, kick and ban actions, force-class, item giving, doors, effects, server events, configuration, text-based Remote Admin and game-console commands. If a command returns a permission error, run perm, then ask an administrator with the required code to adjust the role rather than repeatedly retrying.
Graphical Remote Admin controls
You do not have to memorize every text command. The graphical panel exposes the same permission model through sections for:
- Player data: name, player ID, SteamID64, current role and HP.
- Role and inventory: role changes and inventory controls where your role allows them.
- Moderation: player intervention, including moderation actions.
- Administration: Overwatch, god mode, bypass, teleport, heal and noclip.
- Round and events: start or restart controls, MTF and Chaos respawns, and Alpha Warhead controls.
Buttons can be safer for occasional administration because they expose the target and action together. Text commands are faster for repeatable work, but you must verify the player ID and arguments yourself.

Practical command recipes
Broadcast before a disruptive action
Warn players with bc 10 Server restart in 10 seconds, replacing the length and message to suit your announcement. This reduces surprise before a restart or facility-wide event.
Find a room and teleport
- Run
ridlist(orrids) to print room IDs. - Copy the desired room ID exactly.
- Run
roomtp <roomID>, or usertp/ridtps.
You need PLM for the teleport action, and the destination must be a valid ID from the current map.
Inspect a player before changing anything
- Use the player list in Remote Admin to confirm the numeric player ID, role and identity.
- Check
ping <playerID>orplayerinventory <playerID>when diagnosing a connection or inventory issue. - Apply a targeted action such as
hp <playerID> <value>only after confirming the target.
Manage an offline ban
Use oban with either the user’s IP or SteamID/Discord ID, followed by duration and reason. Use the matching unban id or unban ip form when the ban should be removed. Long-term unbanning requires BN3.

Use C.A.S.S.I.E. deliberately
Run cassiewords first to see supported words. Then provide pitch, jam parameters and the announcement text to cassie. This command requires ANN and can interrupt the normal information flow for every player.
Safety, reversibility and common failures
Check the target and scope
A player command affects one ID; broadcast, intercom, C.A.S.S.I.E. and facility commands affect everyone nearby or the entire server. Verify whether you are changing a player, round, facility or persistent configuration before pressing Enter.
Announce immediate actions
Hosting documentation specifically warns that roundrestart and warhead instant act immediately. If those commands are available through your installation or an extension, announce the action first with bc. Do not test destructive commands on a live public round.
“I lack permission”
Run perm in-game and compare the result with the required code in the table. A role may have a limited ban tier or player-management access without having PRM, CFG or SCC. Use the LocalAdmin console when your hosting setup authorizes it and an in-game role is not appropriate.

“Unknown command” or changed syntax
Run refreshcommands, then help and help <command>. Confirm that you are in the intended console and that a plugin has not replaced or removed a command. Saved command macros should be reviewed after every game update.
Wrong player or room ID
IDs are session-specific for online players and room IDs come from the current map. Refresh the player list or rerun ridlist instead of reusing an old value.
Plugins and extension commands
LabAPI is the official API framework for SCP: Secret Laboratory server plugins. A plugin can add commands, aliases, arguments and permission checks that do not appear in the built-in Remote Admin table. Treat those as separate commands: read the specific plugin’s documentation, inspect its help output and confirm its configured permission group before using it. Plugin behavior, syntax and safety cannot be inferred from the built-in command list.
A reliable administration workflow
- Choose the correct context: Remote Admin for an in-game, role-controlled action; LocalAdmin for authorized server-console administration.
- Identify the target and scope: player ID, room ID, IP, account ID, round, facility or server.
- Check your rights with
perm, or use the dashboard console when its full-permission policy applies. - Read live syntax with
help <command>. - Announce disruptive actions with
bcbefore executing them. - Run the command, observe the result and use the corresponding reversal command where one exists.
- Record any plugin-specific syntax separately from built-in procedures.
Following that sequence prevents the most common mistakes: using a stale alias, targeting the wrong player, assuming a partial permission is unlimited, and executing a round-wide action without warning.
