You can scan a QR code saved on a Samsung phone without using a second device. In Gallery, open the image and tap Bixby Vision; review the result, then choose an available action such as Open in browser or Copy. The button and labels vary by Galaxy model and software version.
Scan a QR code saved in Samsung Gallery
- Open the image. In Gallery, select the saved QR-code photo or screenshot. If the code is in another app or on your phone’s screen, save it as an image or take a screenshot first.
- Analyze it with Bixby Vision. Tap the Bixby Vision button—Samsung US describes its icon as eye-shaped—and wait for the phone to identify the code.
- Choose what to do with the result. If it contains a web address, select Open in browser to visit it or Copy to copy the URL. The available actions depend on the QR code and device.
Samsung UK support says that information from a QR code photographed earlier can be accessed in Gallery; its page was updated 6 October 2026: Samsung UK’s QR-code instructions.

Try Gallery’s long-press action
Samsung Japan documents another option: long-press the QR-code image in Gallery to display the information it contains. Whether this action appears depends on the device and software version. See Samsung Japan’s QR-code guidance.
Use Google Lens on the saved image
Samsung Colombia describes selecting a saved QR image with Google Lens. Open the Google Lens app, or tap the Lens icon in the Google search bar, choose the image, and review the link that appears. Availability and the exact route can vary. Samsung Colombia’s instructions also mention Circle to Search for saved Gallery codes.

Why the menus differ between Galaxy phones
Bixby Vision is integrated into Samsung apps including Camera, Gallery, and Samsung Internet, but the available features can depend on the Bixby Vision software version. Samsung notes that names and control placement may also differ by device, Android version, and One UI version. If a Gallery button is absent, use the long-press or Lens option rather than assuming every Galaxy phone has the same controls.
Samsung Colombia’s page distinguishes the Camera QR setting for One UI 6.1 or earlier from the setting for One UI 7.0 or later. Those Camera controls are for scanning with the camera; they are separate from analyzing an image already saved in Gallery.

Improve recognition and check the destination safely
- Use a clear, high-resolution image showing the entire code. Blurring, low resolution, obstruction, or damage can prevent recognition.
- Before opening a result, inspect the destination shown by the phone. A QR code can lead to an unsafe website or unwanted content; scan codes only when you trust their source, especially if they arrived by email, text, social media, or messaging app.
- If recognition fails, try a clearer screenshot or the alternate Gallery method. The phone’s available actions may depend on the QR code’s contents.
These image-based methods are distinct from pointing the Camera at a printed or displayed code: they analyze a picture already on the phone.
