The claim that SBI Mutual Fund raised its Amagi Media Labs stake to 9.65% is not confirmed by the available disclosures. SBI Funds Management reported an aggregate holding of 5.4264% as of January 21, 2026; later figures of 7.65% and 15.40% refer to different dates or ownership scopes and do not verify 9.65%.
What SBI’s January 2026 filing says
In a letter dated January 22, 2026, SBI Funds Management disclosed an acquisition of 7,732,654 Amagi shares on January 21. After that transaction, SBI Mutual Fund’s various schemes held 11,739,523 shares—5.4264% of Amagi’s paid-up share capital at the close of business that day. The disclosure was made under Regulation 29(1) of SEBI’s Substantial Acquisition of Shares & Takeovers Regulations, 2011.

Why later percentages do not confirm 9.65%
Ownership figures need to be compared by date and scope. A fund scheme’s holding is not automatically the same as the combined holdings of all schemes managed by SBI, and the mutual-fund category total includes funds beyond SBI.
| Figure | What it measures | Date and source |
|---|---|---|
| 5.4264% | SBI Mutual Fund schemes’ combined holding as a share of Amagi’s paid-up capital | At close of business January 21, 2026; SBI Funds Management disclosure |
| 7.65% | SBI Small Cap Fund’s holding, according to a June shareholding table | June 2026; Trendlyne |
| 7.65% | A stake attributed to SBI Mutual Fund in a report; the accessible report does not establish a matching measurement date and scope | September 7, 2026; Business Standard |
| 15.40% | Aggregate holding by all mutual funds, not SBI alone | June 2026; ET Money |
These figures describe different snapshots or groups of investors. None establishes that SBI Mutual Fund owned 9.65% of Amagi.

What would verify a 9.65% stake?
A dated exchange filing or reliable report tied to a specific filing would need to show the transaction or measurement date, SBI’s share count, whether the figure covers one scheme or all SBI schemes, and the share-capital denominator used. A percentage can change when the share count changes or when the denominator differs, so a number without those details is not enough to establish the claim.
Do not confuse ownership with portfolio weight
Some percentage figures describe how much of a mutual-fund scheme’s assets are invested in a company; others describe what portion of the company’s equity the fund owns. They are not interchangeable. An official January 2026 HDFC Mutual Fund factsheet lists Amagi at 0.21% in a portfolio, while 9.65% appears separately as a subtotal. That subtotal is not evidence of SBI’s ownership of Amagi. HDFC’s January 2026 factsheet provides the relevant context.

IPO price is historical context, not a current valuation
Amagi’s IPO basis-of-allotment document dated January 20, 2026, gives an offer price of ₹361 per share. That is the historical issuance price, not a current market price or a conclusion about the company’s value. NSE’s basis-of-allotment document records the figure.
