The Sans Air Purifier is a compact purifier for medium-sized rooms, but its useful coverage depends heavily on fan speed: RTINGS measured more than twice the particle-cleaning output at maximum than at its low-noise setting, alongside a substantial jump in noise. It has practical basics such as auto mode and a washable pre-filter, but no app or remote. Its primary filter is marketed as H13 HEPA; RTINGS did not deem it HEPA-certified because the manufacturer did not identify a recognized testing standard.
Is the Sans air purifier worth it?
It may suit someone who wants a relatively compact unit with automatic operation and is willing to choose between quieter operation in a smaller room and louder operation with more cleaning output. The main buying question is not just whether your room fits the advertised footprint, but whether it fits the purifier’s measured coverage at a fan speed you will actually use.

RTINGS tested the white colorway using Methodology v1.3.1. Its review was published August 11, 2026, and modified September 18, 2026. It expects other colorways to perform identically but says it has not tested them individually. The results below are RTINGS’ product measurements and estimates, not a guarantee for every home or operating condition. Read the RTINGS Sans Air Purifier Review.
How big of a room can the Sans air purifier handle?
RTINGS’ room-size estimates change with fan speed. Its maximum-speed estimate is about twice the low-noise estimate, so use the row that reflects your likely day-to-day setting rather than treating 33.4 m² as coverage at every speed.

| Operating setting | RTINGS-measured PM1.0 CADR | RTINGS estimated room size | Measured noise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum fan speed | 391 m³/hr (230 CFM) | 33.4 m² (359 ft²) | 62.9 dBA |
| Tested low-noise setting | 185 m³/hr (109 CFM) | 15.8 m² (170 ft²) | 32.6 dBA |
These are RTINGS’ 2026 test results and room estimates. The lower-speed figures are the more relevant ones if you expect to run the purifier quietly overnight. For a large or open-concept space, consider whether this output at your preferred setting is enough; room layout and actual operating conditions can affect how well a portable unit serves the space.
The US EPA advises choosing a particle air cleaner with a clean air delivery rate (CADR) large enough for the room. CADR rates removal of particles, not gases. It is one sizing input, not a promise that a purifier will remove every indoor pollutant. EPA: Guide to Air Cleaners in the Home.

- Whole Home Air Purifier for a Cleaner Space: Sans HEPA Air Purifier delivers powerful purification for homes, apartments, and open spaces. It covers up to 1,854 sq. ft. every hour, so one air purifier can clean the air throughout large and connected living areas. Sans takes air purification to new heights, covering more ground to ensure every corner of your home receives the breath of fresh air it deserves. Product dimensions: 20"× 10"× 11.5." Weight: 11 lbs. Color: White.
- True 3-in-1 HEPA Filtration: Advanced layered purification clears dust, smoke, and other ultrafine particles as air moves through the multi-stage system. HEPA technology captures up to 99.9% of particles down to 0.1 micron in diameter, and a dedicated filter helps trap pet hair and airborne dander before it settles on furniture, keeping your space fresh with multiple animals.
- Activated Carbon Air Purifier with UV-C: Unlike other air purifiers, Sans features a full pound of activated carbon to address unwanted chemicals, VOCs, gases, and odors. The substantial activated carbon layer is built for the realities of everyday homes, including cooking smells and pet-related odors. An internal UV-C light adds to the purification system by neutralizing airborne pathogens. This air purifier is CARB-certified to be completely ozone-free.
- Meditation Quiet: At just 25 dB, Sans' low sound level is designed to minimize disruption throughout the day and night, while whisper-quiet operation makes it easy to keep running in nurseries, bedrooms, home offices, and workspaces. Powerful performance works quietly in the background while you sleep, focus, work, or unwind.
- Real-Time Air Quality Monitoring: Sans features SmartPure sensors that automatically read and respond to your air quality in real time. The display light keeps current air quality visible at a glance. A built-in replacement indicator monitors the condition of the filter and alerts you when it’s time for a change. Replace every 3 months depending on usage and air quality.
Noise and controls: what you get in everyday use
The measured difference—from 32.6 dBA at the lowest speed to 62.9 dBA at the highest—makes noise a central part of the room-sizing decision. Maximum mode provides the higher tested particle output, but it is much louder. If a quiet bedroom setting matters more than fast cleaning, plan around the low-noise coverage estimate.

Does the Sans air purifier have a HEPA filter?
The primary allergen-trapping layer is advertised as H13 HEPA-rated, but RTINGS did not deem it HEPA-certified: it says the manufacturer did not provide details of a recognized testing standard. That is a reason to read the H13 wording cautiously, rather than treating it as independent confirmation of certification.
RTINGS describes three filtration components: a mesh pre-filter, the primary allergen-trapping layer, and activated-carbon pellets. The carbon is relevant because particle CADR alone does not establish gas-removal performance. The EPA says gases require activated carbon or another medium designed for gases; its general guidance does not validate the Sans’s model-specific performance.

How often do you replace the Sans air purifier filter?
RTINGS says the pre-filter can be wiped clean and the combined primary/carbon filter should be replaced after roughly three months of use. Replacement filters are available through Sans, according to the review. It does not establish an exact replacement SKU or compatibility with Amazon listings, so confirm the part with the manufacturer before ordering.
What the Sans can—and cannot—do for indoor air
A portable purifier is one layer of indoor-air management. The EPA’s consumer guide says, “The most effective ways to improve your indoor air are to reduce or remove the sources of pollutants and to ventilate with clean outdoor air.” It describes filtration as a supplement to source control and ventilation, not a replacement for them. The EPA does not certify or recommend specific purifier brands or models. US EPA, Guide to Air Cleaners in the Home.

For smoke or other particles, choose a suitable particle cleaner and size it to the room. For gases, look for a filter medium intended for those pollutants; the Sans’s particle CADR does not measure that capability. Do not interpret the purifier’s features as proof that it cures allergies or asthma, removes mold problems, or addresses all indoor pollution.
Ozone is another safety consideration. The EPA advises avoiding air cleaners that intentionally produce ozone. Its wildfire-smoke guidance points to CARB-certified portable air cleaners as a way to know a unit makes little to no ozone. The RTINGS review describes an internal UV-C light in the Sans but does not establish whether this exact model is CARB-certified. EPA: Indoor Air Filtration.
How it compares with alternatives
RTINGS says the Blueair Blue Signature Large and Coway Airmega 400 provide substantially more particle-cleaning performance than the Sans, with lower noise at maximum speed but a larger footprint. The similarly sized Mila Air 3 offers app connectivity and a swappable-filter system. These are broad distinctions, not a substitute for comparing measured output at the speed you will use.

Quick Recap
- Compare particle CADR at your intended operating speed, not only a maximum-speed room figure.
- Check that the coverage estimate suits your room, especially if it is open-concept.
- Consider noise alongside output, as well as footprint and placement.
- Decide whether app connectivity or alternative controls matter to you.
- Confirm replacement-filter availability, replacement interval, and current cost before buying.
