A report has described a possible Samsung AI response to lens flare on Galaxy phones, but the available information does not establish that Samsung has confirmed a feature. There are no verified details on how it would work, which phones might support it, or when it could arrive. In the meantime, Samsung’s current advice is practical: clean the camera lens, adjust the light or angle, and use Gallery editing to reduce flare in a photo you have already taken.
Why do lights streak in Galaxy photos?
Samsung says bright scenes, night photography with multiple light sources, and backlighting can produce streaks or glare. This is an optical effect; its appearance alone does not prove that a Galaxy camera is defective. Fingerprints, dust, and smudges can make the effect more noticeable, as can high zoom, so check the lens surface before drawing conclusions. Samsung’s guidance is available in its US camera-flare support article and Singapore backlight and flare guidance.

How can you reduce lens flare in a Samsung photo?
Before taking the photo
- Clean the camera lens. Remove fingerprints, dust, and smudges with a suitable soft cloth.
- Change the angle or light. If possible, shift your position so a bright source is not shining directly into the camera, or avoid the strongest light.
- Check any camera cover. Samsung warns that a camera protector or lens cover can affect image quality and cause light distortion or focus issues. If you use one and notice a change, compare a photo with it removed when safe and practical. A cover is not a flare remedy.
These steps address conditions during capture. They can reduce flare caused or worsened by dirt, positioning, or an accessory, but they cannot guarantee that bright lights will produce no optical flare. Samsung’s Singapore camera guidance, updated July 23, 2026, covers both capture advice and protector-related cautions.

Samsung says Gallery’s Photo Assist can be used to remove an unwanted light effect from an existing image. Select the photo, tap Photo Assist, tap or draw around the effect, then choose Erase. This edits the captured image; it is not a change to the camera’s optics. Samsung outlines the process in its US support article and Singapore support article.

Is lens flare a defect?
Not necessarily. Samsung describes flare in bright or backlit conditions as a normal optical phenomenon, and the effect by itself is not a diagnosis of a fault. First clean the lens and check whether the flare occurs only with a particular bright light, angle, zoom level, or camera cover in place. The cited support guidance does not establish that every unusual camera artifact is normal; persistent problems outside those conditions may warrant device-specific troubleshooting or Samsung support.
Has Samsung confirmed an AI fix for Galaxy lens flare?
Not in the information currently available. An exact-title search result attributes an AI-related lens-flare rumor to Android Headlines, but that excerpt does not provide a verifiable Samsung announcement or product details. The feature itself, its technique, supported Galaxy models, and any release timing remain unconfirmed. Treat the proposed plan as a report, not a promised update; Samsung’s existing Photo Assist instructions apply to editing photos after capture, not proof of a forthcoming camera fix.
