Samsung’s SMR-OCT-2026 lists nine Google Android vulnerabilities rated Critical, alongside nine Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items. Those are separate groups: Samsung does not say that all nine SVE items are Critical. The October 6 bulletin covers the monthly security release, but availability depends on your Galaxy model and software or service version.
What are the nine Critical flaws?
Samsung’s October 2026 Security Maintenance Release bulletin lists these nine Google Android CVEs in its Critical category. Google’s October Android Security Bulletin, published October 5, also identifies nine Critical CVEs.

Samsung describes the monthly package as containing Google and Samsung patches, and also mentions semiconductor patches. Its separate count of nine SVE items is not a count of nine additional Critical vulnerabilities; the bulletin does not characterize all nine SVE items as Critical. Has your Galaxy device received the update?
Not necessarily. Samsung says the October release is being issued for major flagship models through its monthly process, but its bulletin does not promise simultaneous availability for every Galaxy phone or tablet. Timing can vary with the device version, model, and service version; market or carrier rollout can also affect when an update appears. Google’s Android bulletin lists vulnerabilities, but it does not establish deployment status for an individual Samsung device.

How to check for the October security patch
- Open Settings on your Galaxy device.
- Tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install to check for an available update.
- After installation, return to Settings, tap About phone (or About tablet), then Software information. Check the displayed Android security patch level.
Menu wording can vary by device and software version. If no update is offered, that does not by itself confirm that your model will never receive it; Samsung’s bulletin does not provide a universal arrival date. Recheck through Software update later, and use Samsung’s support information for guidance specific to your model and service version.
