Samsung’s U.S. site briefly exposed a Galaxy S24 FE preorder page before the phone was announced, according to a report published September 25, 2024. It reportedly showed a starting price of $649.99 and key hardware details. Samsung confirmed the phone the next day; most of the leak held up, though its reported battery capacity and informal color names needed correction.
What Samsung’s preorder page reportedly revealed
The report described the page as an accidental publication on Samsung’s own U.S. site, not a retailer listing. It reportedly showed the S24 FE’s U.S. starting price, 128GB and 256GB storage options, four colors, and core hardware: a 6.7-inch 120Hz display, Exynos 2400e processor, 8GB of RAM and three rear cameras. Galaxy AI support was also expected. The report did not establish that orders were accepted or that the page set a shipping schedule.
BGR published its account on September 25, 2024. Samsung announced the phone on September 26, and its global newsroom said availability in Korea would begin September 27. BGR’s September 25 report and Samsung’s announcement distinguish the preliminary page from the official launch information.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI announcement included Photo Assist, Circle to Search, Live Translate, Interpreter and Note Assist. Feature availability varies by region, language, app, account and software version. Samsung said Galaxy AI features would be provided free on supported devices through the end of 2025; that launch-era statement should not be read as a promise that every feature is permanently free or universally available.

- The Galaxy S24 FE packs a large 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, enhanced brightness and a “Vision Booster” mode — ideal for clear, bright visuals even outdoors.
IP68 describes resistance under laboratory conditions, not unrestricted waterproofing. Resistance can diminish with wear, and Samsung’s rating is not a reason to expose a phone to salt water or high-pressure water.
Why the $649.99 price mattered
The $649.99 figure was the U.S. launch MSRP for the 128GB model, not a universal price or a promise about later street prices. Samsung’s U.S. MSRP file listed the 8GB/128GB version at $649.99 and the 8GB/256GB version at $709.99. BGR compared the base price with the S23 FE’s reported $599.99 launch price, making the S24 FE a $50 step up at launch. Samsung’s U.S. MSRP sheet records the configurations.

Trade-in credits, carrier subsidies and promotional discounts can change what a buyer pays, but they do not alter the launch MSRP. Samsung’s U.S. product page currently displays a “from $649.99” price before eligible trade-in; offers, inventory and trade-in values are dynamic, so check the page for current terms rather than treating the launch price as today’s deal. Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy S24 FE page is the place to check its current listing. The page’s Galaxy Buds FE promotion was limited to September 26–October 31, 2024, while supplies lasted, and is not a current offer.

Galaxy S24
The regular Galaxy S24 is the more natural fit for buyers who want a smaller, conventional flagship. The S24 FE offers a larger screen and originally cost less at U.S. launch, but the gap can narrow when the S24 is discounted. Compare the actual prices and storage tiers available when buying rather than assuming one model is always the better value.
Rank #4
Galaxy S23 FE
The S23 FE launched at a lower reported U.S. price, $599.99, but it is an older generation with an older platform and less remaining time in its software-support window. It may make sense if clearance pricing is compelling; weigh the savings against the newer S24 FE’s stated update commitment.
Google Pixel 8a
The Pixel 8a belongs in the same broad value-phone comparison, but it is not a direct specification match. Google’s software and computational photography are its distinguishing strengths; the S24 FE instead emphasizes Samsung’s ecosystem, a dedicated telephoto camera, a larger display and Galaxy AI. Specific current prices for these alternatives are not established here.

What the leak means for buyers now
The episode is a historical launch leak, not an unresolved rumor or a current preorder opportunity. Samsung’s September 26, 2024 announcement settled the important questions: the U.S. base MSRP, official colors and core specifications. The leak was unusually informative, but the official figures—not every preliminary description—are the reliable reference for the phone.
For a present-day purchase, the decision turns on the S24 FE’s live price, remaining software-support period, condition and availability in your market. The 2024 preorder page cannot establish any of those current buying details.
