To change the password for a Wi-Fi hotspot created by your Samsung Galaxy, open Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot, then open the hotspot details or configuration screen and edit Password. If you mean the password for your home Wi-Fi router, you must change it in the router’s administration settings—not in the Galaxy’s saved Wi-Fi connection.
First, identify which Wi-Fi password you want to change
A Galaxy phone can connect to a Wi-Fi network, and it can also create its own mobile hotspot. These are separate networks with separate passwords. Samsung’s hotspot instructions cover changing the password for the network created by the phone. For a protected home network, Samsung’s Wi-Fi connection guidance explains that the network password is required to connect; changing it is an administrator task for the router.

Change the password for your Samsung phone’s hotspot

Open Settings on the Galaxy phone.

Tap Connections, then Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.

Tap Mobile Hotspot.

Open the hotspot’s information, details, or configuration area, then tap Password. Samsung’s US guide calls this area Information; other instructions use Configure, so the exact label may differ.

Enter the new password and tap Save or confirm if prompted. Samsung Canada’s instructions describe entering the new details and saving them.

Reconnect devices that use the hotspot, entering the new password when prompted. The password in the hotspot settings is the credential those devices need to join.

Samsung’s menu labels and screen layout can vary by Galaxy model, software version, and region. If the path differs, search Settings for Mobile Hotspot and open the matching hotspot settings. Samsung’s Galaxy internet-connection instructions also note that device screens and options can vary.

The password for a saved Wi-Fi network is not changed from the Galaxy phone’s connection screen. Use the router’s administration controls instead. The available steps and interface depend on the router and provider; if you do not administer the network or cannot access those controls, ask the network administrator or internet provider. After the router password is changed, devices joining that Wi-Fi network need to connect with the updated credential.

If another device cannot find your hotspot

Check whether the hotspot is set to a hidden network. On some models, disabling the hidden-network setting can make it visible.

If the hotspot offers a band choice, try 2.4 GHz for compatibility with more devices. Samsung notes that 5 GHz can offer better performance, while 2.4 GHz may work with a wider range of devices.

Menu names and available band or visibility controls are model-dependent. Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ manual documents band and hidden-network options for that older model; it does not guarantee the same controls on every Galaxy phone.

Know what using a mobile hotspot involves
A mobile hotspot shares the phone’s internet connection over Wi-Fi. Depending on your carrier and plan, tethering may require an eligible plan and uses mobile data; hotspot use also consumes battery. Check your carrier’s terms and your data allowance before relying on it. Samsung describes these considerations in its mobile hotspot setup guidance.
