Neither Samsung nor Motorola is the better choice for every buyer. Compare phones at the same price tier and in the same form factor: a conventional flagship against a conventional flagship, a budget phone against a budget phone, or a foldable against a foldable. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra suits shoppers looking for a traditional flagship with multiple optical zoom ranges; Motorola’s Razr 2026 is aimed at people who specifically want a clamshell foldable and its cover-screen features. Those are different kinds of phones, not a direct head-to-head match.
How to make a fair Samsung-versus-Motorola comparison
Both companies sell phones across multiple tiers. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 family is one current flagship example, while Motorola’s lineup includes the Razr foldables, Edge phones, and Moto G models. A Razr is not a stand-in for every Motorola phone, just as the S26 Ultra’s camera hardware does not represent every Galaxy model. Galaxy S26 Ultra: conventional flagship design
Samsung’s U.S. announcement on February 25, 2026, lists the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh. The S26 and S26+ have 6.3-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively. These are manufacturer specifications for the announced U.S. lineup; check local model details before buying. Samsung’s announcement does not, by itself, establish how the displays or cameras perform against a Motorola model in independent testing.

Razr 2026: clamshell foldable with a cover screen
The Razr 2026 folds shut, creating a smaller closed form than a conventional slab phone and leaving its cover screen available for quick tasks. Motorola describes its Flex View feature as a way to prop the phone for hands-free photos and use the main camera for selfies while the phone is closed. TechRadar’s reviewer, who used the Razr 2026 as a personal device for two weeks, found the cover screen handy for messaging, Google Maps, calendar checks, and fitness checks without opening the phone. The reviewer also noted delays when handing apps off between screens. Those are observations about this Razr, not every Motorola phone. Read TechRadar’s Razr 2026 review.
Choose the Razr’s form factor if you want a foldable and expect to use the outer screen. If you prefer a conventional phone that opens to its main display for ordinary use, the S26 line is a more relevant Samsung family to compare. The two designs involve different daily trade-offs, so a spec list alone cannot settle which one will suit you.

Which camera setup fits your needs?
The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s listed rear cameras include a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide, a 10 MP 3x telephoto, and a 50 MP 5x telephoto. Samsung specifies 3x and 5x optical zoom. That gives the Ultra more explicitly listed telephoto coverage than the Razr specifications in this comparison, but megapixels and lens counts are not independent measures of photo quality. Nor should the Ultra’s hardware be assumed to describe the base S26 or S26+.

How do battery and charging compare?
The available figures describe different things and should not be treated as a direct battery-life contest:

Use a controlled runtime test for a battery-life comparison, and make sure it covers the exact model you want. Battery capacity, a manufacturer’s hours estimate, and a reviewer’s timed test are not interchangeable measures.

What software support should you check?
Support commitments are model- and region-specific, so verify both phones rather than assuming one brand always provides longer support. Motorola’s support listing for the Razr 2026 says it launched with Android 16, names Android 17 as its next OS, and lists security updates through September 2030 with at least bi-monthly security maintenance releases. A comparable, current support schedule for a precise regional Galaxy S26 model is not established here. Check Samsung’s official support information for the exact SKU you plan to buy and compare OS upgrades separately from security updates; do not turn the Razr listing into a brand-wide update comparison.

What about durability, repairs, and price?
Repair considerations
Android Central cautions that foldable screens can be more difficult and costly to repair if damaged. That is a practical consideration when weighing the Razr’s folding design, not evidence that it has a particular failure rate or is less durable than a specific Samsung phone. The available sources do not establish a controlled durability comparison between these models.
Prices and deals
At the time of TechRadar’s 2026 review, the Razr 2026 started at $799.99 in the U.S. and £799.99 in the U.K. Those are review-time starting prices, not guaranteed current prices; availability, discounts, and configuration can change the comparison. The reviewer also noted that the previous Razr could be better value when discounted and still in stock. Check live listings in your market and compare like-for-like configurations before treating either phone as the better deal.
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Galaxy S26 Ultra if you want a conventional flagship and value its listed high-resolution main camera plus separate 3x and 5x optical telephoto lenses.
- Consider the Motorola Razr 2026 if a clamshell foldable is the feature you want and you expect to use its cover screen for quick tasks or closed-phone camera features.
- Compare other models in both lineups if your budget, size preference, or priorities do not match those two examples. The Motorola Edge and Moto G families and other Galaxy models belong in comparisons at their own tiers.
Neither example proves that Samsung or Motorola is categorically better for reliability, camera quality, software experience, or value. The useful decision is the one between specific, locally available models, with current prices and support schedules checked for each.
