Samsung does not publish one universal service-menu access sequence for every TV, so identify your exact model before trying any model-specific instructions. If your goal is simply to reset the TV, use Samsung’s standard reset guidance instead.
What the Samsung TV hidden menu is
The service menu contains settings intended for servicing, rather than routine picture, sound, or network adjustments. A Samsung Community discussion about a “Factory reset code?” identifies the question as one about the service menu, which is different from the normal Settings reset option (Samsung Community).
There is no substantiated, universal key sequence here that applies across Samsung TV models. Samsung’s published reset guidance notes that menu paths and layouts vary by model and software version (Samsung Australia support). Avoid treating a sequence shown for one TV as a general access code.
Find your full model code before troubleshooting
- On the TV, open Settings > Support > About This TV and record the model code. Samsung documents this location in its Smart TV developer FAQ (Samsung Smart TV FAQ).
- Record the software version shown on the TV, if available, and note your country or region. Model variants and software can affect menus and instructions.
- Look up the matching regional Samsung support page or user manual for that exact model before changing settings. If the instructions do not match what you see, stop rather than guessing.
If you want to reset the TV, use the normal Settings route
For an ordinary reset, start with Samsung’s model-specific support guidance. Its Australia support page lists different menu routes by model generation; the exact route depends on the TV. A factory reset returns settings to their defaults. Samsung notes that calibration settings may be lost in some circumstances, while network settings are not affected by the reset route described on that page (Samsung Australia support).

For Smart Hub models from 2016 onward, Samsung’s developer FAQ separately documents Settings > Self Diagnosis > Reset as the Smart Hub reset path. This resets Smart Hub settings, not necessarily every setting on the TV; follow the on-screen prompts and the instructions for your model (Samsung Smart TV FAQ).
Preparing a supported TV for repair: Maintenance Mode
Maintenance Mode is a repair-preparation and privacy feature, not a way to open the service menu. Samsung says it is supported on 2022-and-later Samsung Smart TVs and Smart Monitors. It restricts access to basic repair functions and can back up and restore preferences such as picture settings (Samsung Canada support). Availability and the steps to enable it depend on support for the particular device; consult the device’s regional support page.

Why not try a service-menu sequence at random?
A 2016 video demonstrates remote-button combinations on one Samsung UE32J5500AW. That is a dated example for that specific model, not evidence that the same sequence works on newer TVs or other model families (UE32J5500AW demonstration). Do not proceed if your model is different or the displayed menus diverge from the instructions.
Changing an unfamiliar service setting can produce unwanted results. A Samsung Community moderator also cautioned that such changes may affect warranty coverage; the outcome depends on the applicable warranty terms and region, so check your own warranty or ask Samsung before proceeding (Samsung Community moderator).

- For everyday picture, sound, network, or app issues, use the normal Settings menus and the exact model’s support instructions.
- For a repair fault or a service-level adjustment, contact Samsung support or an authorized service provider rather than experimenting with undocumented options.
- If you have already opened a service menu, avoid changing settings you cannot identify. If the TV behaves unexpectedly, note the model and the changes made, then contact Samsung or an authorized service provider for model-specific advice.
