If “Custom” is selected on your Samsung TV, first check which picture menu it appears in. Under Picture mode, choose another available picture preset. Under Picture Size Settings, choose a different screen size or aspect ratio. These are separate settings, so the right route depends on where you see “Custom.”
Change the Picture Mode preset
On many Samsung TVs, open Settings (All Settings) > Picture > Picture mode, then select another available mode. Samsung’s US guide lists Standard, Dynamic, Eco, Movie, and Filmmaker Mode, but the choices depend on the TV model and year. Samsung’s picture-settings guide has the current general route.

- Press the Home or Settings button on the TV remote and open Settings or All Settings.
- Choose Picture, then Picture mode.
- Select a different mode from the options shown on your TV.
Samsung’s Canada support guide gives the same general menu route and lists Dynamic, Standard, Eco, Movie, and Filmmaker Mode. Samsung Canada’s picture-settings guidance notes that Filmmaker Mode may look darker than other modes.
Choose a preset that suits your room
The available presets and their effects vary by model, but Samsung describes these general viewing cues:

Choose the mode that looks comfortable for your room and the content you watch; exact names and availability are model-dependent.
If “Custom” is under Picture Size Settings
In this menu, Custom refers to manually adjusting the picture’s aspect ratio—not a picture preset. To leave it, open Settings (All Settings) > Picture > Expert Settings > Picture Size Settings, then choose another available option, such as 16:9 Standard. Choose the option that fits the content without unwanted stretching or cropping. Available choices depend on the TV and the picture source.

Samsung’s menus and feature availability vary by model and year, so your screen may use slightly different wording or omit an option. Check whether “Custom” appears under Picture mode or Picture Size Settings, then use the matching route above.
